Grandmother Takes Home Jumbo Win

Bel Air Woman Wins $100,000 Playing Jumbo Cash Doubler

Jumbo Cash DoublerNervously, a 66-year-old Lottery player entered the Claims Center with her son-in-law. Although she was a little shaky, you could tell that internally she was jumping for joy. That’s because she was sitting on a $100,000 Jumbo Cash Doubler win that she had to hold on to all weekend.

“Even with my alarm system and hiding the ticket, I still did not sleep well for a couple of days,” said the grandmother of two teenagers.

It was on Friday when lady luck appeared to this Bel Air resident. The fortunate player purchased her regular Lottery tickets and also picked up a King Cash scratch-off. She won $10 from that ticket and turned it in for a Jumbo Cash Doubler scratch-off. “It was new and right in front of me, so I chose that one,” she said. “She likes those new tickets,” said her son-in-law, who accompanied her to Lottery Headquarters.  The winner said she scratched the ticket in the store, but first only revealed the bar code and had the retailer scan it for her. It said to take to the Lottery, so she scratched the rest of the ticket to see for how much she had won. “My legs turned to jello when I saw that it was for $100,000,” she gently smiled.

The winner, who recently underwent two surgeries, said she is going to use the winnings towards medical bills. She said she will also buy something for herself and her grandkids, plus take the family out to a nice dinner. The winning ticket was purchased at Bel Air Liquors, located at 116 South Hickory Ave.

Mother Gives $50,000 Scratch-Off Prize to Son

Bel-Air Woman wins $50,000 Top Prize on Raise the Stakes

Raise the StakesA few spare minutes resulted in a $50,000 Raise the Stakes scratch-off prize for a happy Harford County woman. On Thursday, the mother-of-one was early for work, so she made a pit stop at a 7-11 to purchase two Raise the Stakes scratch-offs. Still arriving ahead of schedule, the grocery-store employee decided to scratch the two tickets. Moments later, the first ticket was revealed to be a top-prize $50,000 winner.

Unable to keep the news to herself, she immediately called her only son to tell him about the win. “I may have won $50,000, but I need you to come down here and help me double check the ticket,” she explained. When her son heard the news, he thought it was too good to be true. The self-proclaimed realist said, “I was hopeful, but skeptical at the same time.”

The selfless mother awarded her son the $50,000 as a gift. “He deserves this money more than me,” she said. The 28-year-old son has been in need of a new car for a few years, and plans to purchase a new vehicle with his mom’s generous gift. He will also show his appreciation to his mother by sharing a portion of his winnings with her.

Pick 3 Triple Play Promotion [VIDEO]

UPDATE: July 9
A lot of players have been asking, what happens to prizes if they go unclaimed?  If prizes go unclaimed, the funds will go back into the unclaimed prize fund. All unclaimed prizes, by law, are required to be returned to the players in some fashion.  In order to do so, we develop numerous promotions during the course of the year using the unclaimed prize money as a way of returning the money to the players.  For instance, unclaimed prizes are used for promotions such as Keno Sprinkler, Racetrax Doubler and Hit It Here.

Montgomery County Woman Wins $30,000 Poker Royale Top Prize

Barbara Pratt - Poker RoyaleEvery weekend, Barbara Pratt goes to Redner’s Warehouse Market to buy Lottery scratch-offs. This past Sunday, her routine stop made her $30,000 richer when she won the top prize on the Poker Royale ticket.

“I’ve been playing the Poker Royale scratch-offs for a while,” said the 60-year-old.  “I purchased three of them and then went home to scratch the tickets.” The second ticket she scratched was the big winner.  “I was in shock so I wasn’t sure I’d really won.  I decided to take the ticket back to Redner’s and asked the clerk to check it,” she explained.

After the clerk confirmed Barbara’s suspicions, she went home, ate dinner and put the ticket in front of the television. That’s where it stayed until she brought it to Lottery Headquarters to claim her prize. “When she showed me the ticket I told her I didn’t believe it,” said Barbara’s boyfriend, Phares, who accompanied her to the Lottery’s claim center.

When asked what she will do with her new-found fortune Barbara replied, “I haven’t had time to think about it.  I’m still in shock.”  Barbara and Phares both agree they are still in disbelief, but they intend to start spending the money by paying some bills.

The winning ticket was purchased at the Redner’s Warehouse Market at 2126 N. Fountain Green Rd. in Bel Air.
