$2 Million Second-Tier Powerball Ticket Sold in Glen Burnie

Largest Powerball Prize in Maryland since Start of Game

Powerball

While Saturday night’s Powerball drawing may not have produced a jackpot winner, it did deliver Maryland’s largest Powerball winner to date.   Players who purchased their tickets in Glen Burnie may have an extra pep in their step today as they check their tickets.  The $2 million second-tier winner matched all five white balls, only missing the Powerball.

The lucky winner chose the Power Play option, which turned a $200,000 prize into a $2 million win.   Typically, the Power Play option offers the chance to multiply non-jackpot wins two, three, four or five times. During a limited-time promotion, a 10-time multiplier was added. With the 10-time multiplier coming out on Saturday, this special promotion has come to an end.  But, those who play the Power Play option still have the chance to win up to five times the regular prize amount.

The $2 million winning ticket was purchased at Pop Grocery & Deli, located at 7459 Furnace Brand Rd. in Glen Burnie. The store will receive a $2,500 commission for selling the winning ticket.  The winner has 182 days to claim the prize. With no jackpot winner, Wednesday night’s drawing will be worth $60 million.

The Powerball drawing is held in Orlando, Florida and can be seen locally on Wednesday and Saturday evenings at 11:22 pm on WBAL-TV, Channel 11.  The multi-state game is played in 41 states, Washington D.C. and the US Virgin Islands.
