Along with the temperature outside, the Mega Millions jackpot continues to rise. No one hit Friday night’s Mega Millions jackpot which now raises the stakes to $266 million for tomorrow night’s drawing. Even though there were no jackpot winners, four Marylanders won the $10,000 third-tier prize. So far this year, there have been 13 second-tier $250,000 winners and 50 third-tier $10,000 winners.
The largest Mega Millions jackpot ever was $390 million in March 2007. The biggest jackpot hit in Maryland, $183 million, was won in June 2003 by Bernadette Gietka, from Baltimore County. Just a few years ago, Bunky Bartlett from Dundalk, was one of four people nationwide to split the $330 million Mega Millions jackpot, taking home a prize of $82.5 million.
The multi-state Mega Millions game is currently played in 39 states, including Maryland. The Mega Millions drawing can be seen on Tuesday and Friday evenings at 11:22 pm on WBAL-TV, channel 11.
