Oakland Man Becomes King for More Than a Day with $250,000 Win

Wins Top Prize on King Size Cash Scratch-Off

When Kevin Louie stopped to buy a sandwich yesterday during his lunch break, he never imagined he would leave lunch with anything more than a full stomach.  That all changed when he decided to purchase a King Size Cash scratch-off.  After lunch, he scratched the ticket and saw that he won $250,000.

The 51-year-old immediately called his wife.  Kevin said, “She asked me if that meant she could have $100 for Christmas shopping.  It took me a minute to realize that she must have thought I said $250, not $250,000.  When she realized, she started screaming!”

The Southern States technician was born and raised in Garrett County.  Prior to this win, the largest Lottery prize Kevin has collected was $5,000. With his winnings, he plans to pay bills, save some money and have a great Christmas.

The winning ticket was purchased at BF’s Food Store in Oakland.  Kevin was the first Lottery player to win the top prize on this new ticket.  Two additional $250,000 top prizes remain.
