Claims $50,000 Scratch-Off Prize
Lynnecharlene Bowser visited Lottery Headquarters today for the first time in more than 30 years. Of course, when she was last here the building was not home to the Maryland Lottery, it was her workplace – Montgomery Wards. One more difference – the check she left the building with today was a bit larger than her final paycheck all those years ago.
The Easton pre-school teacher became the Lottery’s biggest winner of the day when she claimed a $50,000 prize won playing the Sizzlin’ Spot Crossword scratch-off game. Lynnecharlene told Lottery officials that she bought her ticket when stopping for gas after work. “I took it home to play and after I scratched I knew I had to be reading it incorrectly.” After confirmation from her husband and daughter she finally accepted that her eyes were not deceiving her and that good luck had paid a visit to her family.
Mrs. Bowser intends to use some of her winnings to pay bills and some to augment the family savings. The rest will go to her children. “Christmas this year will be something special for our family, very memorable,” she promised.
The winning scratch-off ticket was purchased at the Cambridge Citgo at 212 Sunburst Hghway in Cambridge.
