Laurel Man Wins on September 11, Misses Mega Ball by 11
The number 11 had a number of roles in a Laurel man’s $250,000 Mega Millions win. He matched all five white balls from the September 11th drawing, missing the $24 million jackpot by only one number – the Mega ball.
“Well, I won on the 11th and I missed the Mega ball by 11 numbers,” said the 49-year-old entrepreneur. The Mega ball for that drawing was a two and the lucky winner had a 13. “So close,” he said. “But, I’ll be back for that jackpot.”
The winner found out that he won on Sunday, while checking the numbers on the Lottery’s website. So far, he has not revealed the good news to anyone, not even his wife, who is out of the country. He said she’ll be home next month and he will tell her then.
The father-of-four said he is going use some of the money to get out of debt and will save the rest. He bought his winning ticket at the Weis Market located at 3393 Laurel-Fort Meade Rd. in Laurel.
