Good luck couldn’t have come at a better time for Cecelia. The 51-year-old walked into the store with $20, and walked out with a scratch-off worth $50,000. Cecelia, who has been unemployed for more than a year, said the big win came at just the right time. “I am the ultimate case of dumb luck,” she said.
Cecelia plays scratch-offs several times a week because she loves the feeling she gets from winning. “I love winning,” she said. “Even when it’s just $5.” Cecelia told Lottery Officials she was so excited when she scratched the winning ticket on Saturday night. “I couldn’t believe it,” she said. “I stopped breathing.”
Even though Cecelia has plans to invest her winnings, she has made room in her budget for a little fun. “I’m going to blow $2,000,” she said. “I’m going to get a pedicure, go to Atlantic City and maybe renew my passport.”
The winning ticket was purchased at Plaza Liquors located at 5722 Wabash Ave. in Baltimore.
