A DC woman found $250,000 in her purse on Tuesday. The 48-year-old was cleaning out her bag, when she found a stack of old Mega Millions tickets. She was shocked to discover one of the tickets she had been carrying around since June 5, was a $250,000 winner. “Everything was so normal,” the hairstylist said. “Everyday I was going to work and coming home. I had no idea I had won.”
The lucky winner said she plays Mega Millions every week, always picking random numbers. She came to Lottery Headquarters on Friday to claim her prize accompanied by family and friends. “I am so excited. I am getting a puppy,” her 11-year-old daughter told Lottery officials. The lucky winner said she will put the money in savings.
The winning ticket was purchased at Freddies, located at 7821 Eastern Ave. in Silver Spring.
