Being late to work really paid off for Susana Sagastizado. The 21-year-old slept-in, missed the bus and won $100,000.
Susana, who works over the summer at an optometrist’s office, spent the morning at home with her father, an avid scratch-off player, who convinced her to buy a Lucky Times 10 ticket. They were at their home in Silver Spring on Friday morning when she scratched off the lucky ticket. “I couldn’t believe it,” she said. “I never thought I would win.”
Susana, a criminology major at the University of Maryland plans to share her prize money with her family. She said she will help her parents catch up on bills and buy books for her brother, who will start college in the fall. She will use the rest of the money to buy herself a new laptop for school.
The winning ticket was purchased at the 7-11 located on 8472 Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring. There are two $100,000 top prizes remaining on the Lucky Times 10 scratch-off.
