Marion Clements has been playing the Maryland Lottery for 20 years, but this is his first big win. On Monday, Marion went to his local grocery store to pick up a few things including a Fill’er Up scratch-off ticket. When he arrived home he decided to take a nap, then he had something to eat. It wasn’t until later while sitting and relaxing in his living room that Marion figured it would be a good time to scratch his ticket.
After scratching the first three rows, the ticket did not appear to be a winner. But the last number on the ticket was the big one…he’d won the ticket’s $10,000 top prize. Marion could not believe his eyes. He didn’t tell anyone his good news, not even his girlfriend.
Marion arrived at Lottery headquarters after leaving work smiling from ear to ear. After confirming the ticket was, in fact, a winner, he called his girlfriend. “Finally, after 20 years I got a big pay day,” the happy winner told Lottery officials.
Marion will use the prize money to pay bills and take his girlfriend out for a nice dinner. He also intends to continue to playing his favorite games, which include Pick 3 and Pick 4.
The winning ticket was purchased at Save A Lot #537 234-50, located on McMechen St. in Baltimore.
