One ticket was all it took for 56-year-old Te Tat to reel in a $30,000 Lucky Lines win. The Vietnamese native was accompanied to Lottery Headquarters by his son, who translated his father’s words of appreciation.
“My dad loves that scratch-off because it’s easy to play,” said the 36-year-old son. “I’m happy that I was first in line because the guy behind me bought two of the same ticket right after me,” related Te Tat.
Te Tat had stopped to buy coffee and decided to buy a Lucky Lines ticket. He then scratched it right there in the store and revealed his surprising win. Later that night at dinner, he surprised his family with the good news.
Te Tat resides in Silver Spring with his wife. He is currently unemployed and has three older children. Mr. Tat plans to buy his wife a gift and make repairs to his car with his prize money.
The winning ticket was purchased at 7-11 located at 13401 New Hampshire Ave. in Silver Spring.
