Montgomery County Man Tries Luck Again at Gas Station

Bonus Match 5Wins $50,000 Playing Bonus Match 5

A Germantown man was running errands a few years ago when he decided to stop at a nearby Exxon gas station and buy a Maryland Lottery scratch-off. He scratched the ticket and instantly won $1,000. Since then, he has been trying to repeat his luck at the same station. He achieved his goal by winning $50,000 playing Bonus Match 5.

After dropping off clothes at the dry cleaners the other day, the man returned to the “lucky” Exxon. He chose to play Bonus Match 5 instead of purchasing a scratch-off. “I played Bonus Match 5 because the probability of winning was better than the other games,” the winner said.

When he returned home, he didn’t check the ticket until a few days later. “I totally forgot about the ticket until I found it while cleaning out my wallet.” He checked his numbers online and discovered he was a winner. He then asked his wife, “Is it real?”

The lucky man works in management for the federal government. He has been married for 11 years and is the father of an eight-year-old son. He plans to use his winnings to donate to his church and put the rest towards his son’s education.

The winning ticket was purchased at the Courthouse Exxon, located at 822 West University Boulevard in Silver Spring.
