An Eldersburg woman watched Tuesday night’s Mega Millions drawing and went to sleep thinking she won $150. The following day, she checked the newspaper and saw that she matched all five numbers, except the Mega Ball. That’s when she realized that she actually was $250,000 richer.
“I’m kind of glad that I didn’t know the night before that I won that much money,” the school bus driver told Lottery officials. “I wouldn’t have been able to sleep.”
The 67-year-old and her husband said, “We must have checked the ticket at least 20 times.” With their winnings, they plan to pay off their mortgage and possibly move to North Carolina. The winning ticket was purchased at Carrolltowne Liquors, located at 6410 Ridge Rd. in Eldersburg.
The $212 million jackpot from Tuesday night was hit in New Jersey. Since January, there have been seven second-tier $250,000 winners and 36 third-tier $10,000 winners in Maryland. The Maryland Lottery urges players to check their tickets, as many are still unclaimed.
