VFW Members Share $10,000 Mega Millions Win

VFW Group - Mega MillionsWorking as a team paid off for eleven members of the Charles Evering VFW Post in Rosedale.  Each individual pitches in $5 for tickets whenever the jackpot for Mega Millions gets big.

A total of 57 tickets were purchased about two weeks ago for the Friday, February 20th Mega Millions drawing. The tickets consisted of both random and selected numbers. VFW member, Lawrence Anzer routinely purchases the tickets for the group. The winning ticket was bought at the Royal Farms store, located at 8803 Philadelphia Rd. in Rosedale.

The day after the drawing, Lawrence and six other Lottery players, checked the print out from the store to see if any of their numbers matched.  “Ooh we got that number…ooh we got that number too,” he said as he compared all six numbers.  Every number matched except one, giving them their $10,000 win.  The 11 winners, all retirees, have much to celebrate, however their main goal now is to one day hit the big jackpot.

The multi-state Mega Millions game is played in 12 states, including Maryland, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Virginia, Washington, Texas and California. Mega Millions drawings can be seen on Tuesday and Friday evenings at 11:22 p.m. on WBAL-TV, Channel 11 and at 11:30 p.m. on Maryland Public Television.
