Pick 3 Triple Play Promotion [VIDEO]

UPDATE: July 9
A lot of players have been asking, what happens to prizes if they go unclaimed?  If prizes go unclaimed, the funds will go back into the unclaimed prize fund. All unclaimed prizes, by law, are required to be returned to the players in some fashion.  In order to do so, we develop numerous promotions during the course of the year using the unclaimed prize money as a way of returning the money to the players.  For instance, unclaimed prizes are used for promotions such as Keno Sprinkler, Racetrax Doubler and Hit It Here.

Three Ways To Win With $1 Plays

  1. WIN WITH PICK 3
  2. MATCH LAST TWO (2) DIGITS OF BONUS TICKET
  3. WIN IN ONE OF FIVE WEEKLY DRAWINGS

From May 17th through June 20th, players will have additional chances to win on the Lottery’s classic numbers game, Pick 3!  This Pick 3-only promotion will randomly produce bonus coupons with 8-digit codes for players.  If the coupon’s last two digits match the last two digits of that evening’s Pick 3, the player will win $100.  We’re giving away over 2,500 $100 winners each week.  Click here to see if you won.

If the last two digits do not match that evening’s Pick 3 drawing, players should save the coupon for that week’s Weekly Prize Drawing, which draws an entire 8-digit coupon number for a chance to win up to $250,000.

Let Yourself Play

Please remember to keep your bonus coupons. Bonus coupons must be presented and match exactly in order to claim your prize.

  1. I would lik to know when the pick 3 and pick 4 balls are changed. No. answer like once a month, but an exact date

    • oliver: Eight sets of balls are available for each drawing, ten balls per box numbered 0-9. We randomly select seven of the eight boxes in each drawing – three in Pick 3 and four in Pick 4. All eight sets of balls are changed on or about the 1st day of each month.

  2. The winners seem to mostly be in the Balto area. I live in Lanham & work in Oxon Hill, the winnings by far are defininetly in the Balto area. Its very discouraging, so since I work in the Oxon Hill area, I just go on over the line in the evening & play in Virginia. I have better luck there than I do in MD.

  3. its a shame that all the big winners are in baltimore county. There’s no big winners on the lower eastern shore

    • lisa: We have winners from all over the state. The geographic location of all of our winners is completely random. Winning numbers have always been – and will continue to be – purely the luck of the draw and a matter of random chance. Every time a ball is drawn, it is an independent and unique event, completely unaffected by what ball was drawn seconds, hours, days, or weeks earlier. Scratch-off’s and 2nd chance drawings are also random.

One of the cool things about this blog is that its given us the ability to archive winners stories (dating back to February 2009) for our players to easily reference stories near them. Feel free to search through. Recently, James Perrone just won $40,000 playing Keno at the Clarion Hotel in Ocean City and Gorman Abbott of Crisfield just won $50,000 playing the Bucks Deluxe scratch-off.

  4. I have a stack of triple play coupons and would like to get a complete list of all winning numbers. Or could I take them to a lottery terminal and scan them.Would that tell me if i”m a winner? Also are their any more drawings or is it done?

  5. I just remembered that I wanted to say this. Am I wrong to think that scratch offs should be sold starting with the number 1? It’s very frustrating to go in a store and see a new book in place and when you buy one it’s number 29…makes me sooo mad. If it doesn’t make a difference than why are they numbered to begin with. I have to know and if I am right, MD lottery should enforce that they be placed correctly in order from 1st to 30th!!!! oh and I think if the ticket is not a winner, it should not give you bonus option. Like a 5 bingo ticket that gives you 20x’s bonus but you don’t win anything. You almost know as soon as you match the numbers for the bonus that its not going to be a winner and that bothers me. But hey, I do love playing!!!!

  6. I truly do believe that all the big, big winning scratch-offs (and anything else) are distributed to all the liquor, grocery, gas stations and 7-11 stores in the baltimore area.

  7. william gross

no winning numbers on winning number phone at 1:03 pm sat morning yes I have internet its a winning number phone line why pay for service if it doesnt work

  8. I play every day about 40.00 each day on one number two time seven days of the week . I would like to win of course but it is the luck of the draw. I have many cupons for the Farm store in Essex and no winners here. I just keep playing .I have won on that number before but it is no show for over a year now. No one twist my arm to play.

  9. When I go the Post Office and I ask them to post mark the envelopes stamp, I wait on line sometimes 20 minutes, and most of the post C larks do not like to post mark, and show attitude, arguing a lot, such as “this is not my job, just leave the envelope in their box the machine will do that”, can I just send the envelope as usual w/o post mark, please, help. (and they ask for returned address in the envelope).

    • N.A.: I did some research for you. On Wikipedia it states that “Postmarks may be applied by hand or by machines.” This probably varies by postal location and we would recommend checking with them first.

I would recommend that if you are entering a second chance contest and the deadline is not approaching anytime soon, you can just mail your entry as you would any other type of mail and the postal machines will postmark it for you. If a second chance drawing deadline is approaching and you want to ensure your entry is postmarked, you can request that the teller do it by hand.

As for the return address, USPS always recommends that you include a return address in case of a delivery failure.

And last but not least, always follow the official rules for each drawing you want to enter. There you will find more details on how to enter each individual contest.

Thanks for writing in. We appreciate hearing from our players.

  10. I disagree with lottery officials. The winning scratch offs are known to the lottery officials because when tickets were stolen years ago the lottery officials knew what store they were stolen from and cancelled the tickets. Most of the large winning scratch offs are in the counties and the same foe Mega tickets, and Multi match tickets. It would be nice if the lottery officials would have a second tier triple play for the unclaimed prize money because that’s fair.

    • marty: Once the Lottery delivers a book of tickets to a store, we then know which books are at each store. However, the Lottery does not know which books have the winning tickets in them.

  11. None of your coupons begin with 01347 … did you forget to put those in the draw bin? I have 6 of these coupons — do not feel as though I had a chance!

    • Kathie: For the Pick 3 Triple play promotion drawings entries were randomly selected from the week prior coupons that were issued. Each week there were an average of 260,000 coupons generated per week with over 2,600 winners per week.

  12. WHAT BECOMES OF THE PICK THREE COUPON WINNERS WHO DO NOT CLAIM THERE PRIZE

    • Don: If prizes go unclaimed, the funds will go back into the unclaimed prize fund.

  13. Since there are so many unclaimed tickets, are you going to draw again? Why not have another 2nd chance drawing for the unclaimed prizes?

    • JB: If prizes go unclaimed, the funds will go back into the unclaimed prize fund. All unclaimed prizes, by law, are required to be returned to the players in some fashion. Do not believe for once that there is a lot of winners in Baltimore City. I am an avid scatcher! I play pick 3 and 4 midday and evening. The payouts are truly ridiculous. MD lottery is a RIP off for sure! I buy at least 10 of the same scratch off and win nothing. When they talk about the odds on the back for winning, MD lottery are liars. Years ago, you would win on just about every 3 to 4 scratch off’s bought. I would win $40 or $50 all the time. Now, you can’t even win back the cost of the ticket. There are only small amounts ($1-$10) of money to be won. Every since the new agency took over MD lottery, the payouts have been small and scarce and the same numbers repeat itself frequently. It is also time to up the prize amount for pick 3 and pick 4. The prize amount as been $40, $80, $100, $200 for boxed and $250, $500, $2500, and $5000 for straight for the longest time.

    • deep deep: It’s funny because a lot of people outside of Baltimore believe that all the winners are there. People inside of Baltimore believe that all the winners are outside the city. The truth is the geographical locations of our winners are random. There is no way to predict where winners will be. If you peruse through our winners entries, you will see that winners come from all over the State.

Thanks for taking the time to write in. We appreciate hearing from all of our players.

  15. Is it correct to say the majority of winning tickets go states or cities because of sales? If the answer is yes then how can the games be fair?

  16. william gross

whats the use of a winning numbers phone number that never answered .thanks for the web site cant always be online help.thanks in advance

  17. william gross

whats the use of a winning numbers phone number if you cant get a answer on the phone up to four or five hours later 4102308830 then try to tell msla about the problem I had ask for Mr. long to tell him, what a joke they act like its thier home phone when they answer do these guy work for the state

    • william: We understand your frustration and are looking into a resolution. We had a toll free number line in the past, however, player use wasn’t justifying the cost. Please remember that in addition to our numbers line and website you can find numbers in many local papers and at our more than 4,000 local retailers.

We are also working on improving our website so players can take advantage of features such as RSS (really simply syndication) and more.

Thanks for writing in. We appreciate you taking the time.

    • william: Also, we do not have a Mr. Long that works here. You can contact us at 410-230-8800.

  18. THIS IS MY SECOND RESPONSE HOW COME SOMETIME WHEN I PUT MY NUMBERS ON THE PLAY SLIP THE MACHINE WILL PLAY MY NUMBERS FOR AT LEAST TWO DAYS NOTHING IS MARKED ON THE ADVANCE PLAY.THIS WILL COST ME MORE MONEY THAT I DON’T HAVE.

    • Charles: This is the first inquiry of its kind to us like this. I’ve checked with sales and unfortunately, there is no explanation. We would suggest trying another location or new batch of playslips.

  19. Shari Seaberry

When in the history of the Lottery has the number 1101 came out I play it all the time at least for the last three years my friend,co-worker and family play like I do hit all the time I just play this one nothing

  20. william gross

try to explain anything to msla officals try calling4102308830 for lottery numbers

  21. Is it possible to provide the 3-digit number that was played on the winning ticket on the unclaimed $50,000 3-digit unclaimed prize purchased June 16, 2010 at Friendship Gourmet?

    Thank you.

    • Patricia: If you are referring to what Pick 3 number was drawn, you can view winning numbers here.

    • Patricia: There seems to be a little confusion. The $50,000 winning coupon code was sold at Friendship Gourmet. However, to claim the prize the player must match the 8-digit code listed above.

      • I am not confused. All I am asking is do you have any idea of what the three digit number was on the winning coupon. I play at Friendship Gourmet, because I work in the same bldg. where the store is located. I know I had played a three digit in the month of June. Was the winning coupon purchased for midday or evening?

      • Patricia: We do not have that information. We just know that the winning $50,000 coupon number is 00924154 and was bought at Friendship Gourmet.

  22. When entering a second chance drawing should I be writing my contact information on the actual ticket,i.e. Trump Card scratch off, or should I include a 3 x5 paper or card with my name, address, phone, and email?

  23. Since no one claim most of the prizes of Pick 3, I would suggest to make drawings until all the prizes claimed to avoid sending it to whom does not deserve.

    • Niazi: If prizes go unclaimed, they will go back into the unclaimed prize fund and be used for future promotions. By law all unclaimed prizes must be returned to players in some fashion, which is why we plan multiple promotions throughout the year such as Keno Sprinkler, Racetrax Doubler, Hit It Here and more.

  24. I like to know why perspective winners of the 2nd cahnce games cant be notified when there entries are recieved by the lottery agency ie ultimate payday. Seems like nobody will know if his/her entry has been properly recieved.

    • Jess: All 2nd chance contest where players are asked to provide their contact information are contacted directly by a Maryland Lottery representative. Typically, we ask for multiple pieces of contact information such as phone, address and e-mail address so we have multiple ways to reach out to winners to inform them that they’ve won. We are also beginning to publish the names of winners on our website so winners also have the opportunity to find out here if they’ve won.

  25. Can you please answer – If the lottery agents can purchase instant tickets and win…I have noticed at the lottery location in Temple Hills on brinkley road, the store agents are in the trash retrieving customer racetrax and keno tickets and then scanning them for winners…This doesnt seem right…I have seen this done at this same store on multiple occasions.

    • Betty Boo: Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Please send in more specific retailer information and I will have a Lottery sales representative look into it right away.

      • As Betty Boo said, there has been chicanery with a very small portion of lottery outlets. 99.99999 of them are honest and on the level. The biggest question to me seems that when you go to cash in after a pretty good pick 3 or pick 4 win. Some agents give you free tickets. Some try to give you between 1-5 after a 2,500 pick 4 hit. Some give you more. Is there a standard on this? Clarity on this would be so nice. Thank you.

      • Mack: Retailers who give away free tickets, if you cash a prize or for any other reason, are doing so out of their own pocket. The Lottery does not have anything to do with it. Retailers pay for these free tickets out of their own pockets. Some retailers, on their own, choose to do this as a way as a marketing message to get more people to cash at their stores and generate more foot traffic at their location.

    • justin principio

i dont work at a business with lottery, but when i play, i dig through the trash myself. i found a 50 blazin bucks scratch off one day. there are alot of stupid people who dont know how to play these games and i say once its in the trash, its public domain. my mom, rest her soul, found a 1500 lotto ticket in the trash years ago. if you can gain from peoples stupidity, go for it!

    • Betty Boo~that is nothing. I know personally of a store where the guy who works for his brother, plays keno, scratch-offs and everthing…out of control. He ran up 3500 worth of keno one day and he got so deep he didn’t know what to do. Well just so happens he played a couple big tickets and one hit for 5k. So he was able to put the money back. But this is what he does, he pays people to cash in his winning tickets so he doesn’t have to pay taxes on them. People who have no money. I was in the store when it got busted for having slot machines in the back. My father reported him to the lottery but nothing ever happened. He watches people buy scratch offs and if they buy several with no win, he will purchase the rest. But I just don’t see how this is fair. He does this very often!!!! How come the Maryland lottery can’t do anything about it? They said they were gonna investigate but who knows. I had a friend that got fired from her job because she was on camera playing lottery during working hours and they said that wasn’t allowed per MD lottery. So how can he get away with this? They own two stores in Salisbury, and I just think it’s terrible. He’s taking advantage of everyone. Even MD lottery!!

  26. i have a suggested for a name change for a scarcth off instead of calling it bingo call it one away bingo i’m always one away from a hit

  27. i agree with everyone about the maryland lottery you can play and play and never win , i havent won anything for over 6 monthes not ever
i feel that the lottery is a rip off expspecialy keno i bet i spend at more then 10.00 a day on keno and havent won nothing ,,,so i gave up on keno it sucks ,not good odds either ,you really should redo the pay out to be more fair

  28. Everyone who plays a number wishes they can win but remember your odds on a three digit number are 1 in 1000 of winning, unless you box it then the odds are a little greater. People say my number has not hit in a long time so it is due, not true, the odds on a 3 digit number every night are the same, 1 in 1000.

As for winning, it is all about the right time, how many nights have you wanted to play a number, didn’t and watch it hit that night. Happens all the time.

As for the scratch off, same thing, right place, right time. I was one who believed it was always the same old crowd, Baltimore, Bel Air, Carroll County but never me. One day it was so now I am one of the ones who can honestly say, when they say there are big money tickets out there, they really are, you just have to be lucky.

But the one thing for sure .. you got to play to win. You feel great when you win but it sucks to lose. No one said that life is fair but I definitely believe the lottey is as fair as they can be.

  29. well here’s the deal, on my bonus coupon for 6/20/10 it says on the ticket if you match the last 2 digets of the 8 diget number below on the next evening drawing you win $100.00. Well the next evening 6/21/10 3 diget number ended in 96. My 8 diget number ended in 96. why does it say you are not a winner?

    • Earl: According to our sales team, there was a bit of confusion from players and we hope to improve this for next time. The part that states the “next” evening drawing refers to the next evening drawing to take place – not the evening drawing tomorrow. So, depending on when the coupon was purchased, you would use that next evening Pick 3 number.

  30. Ronald Norman

Why complain about winners in Baltimore?? Many people from other counties work in the Baltimore area. They buy their tickets in Baltimore. There are more lottery outlets in Baltimore and therefore more tickets are sold giving you a better chance to win. I didn’t do so bad myself here in Harford County last night.

  31. 7 out of 10 of the triple play payouts went to baltimore players.must be because of sales so it’s not fair.we have to move to baltimore to have a chance to win.would this be correct?

  32. It looks like a lot of these pick 3 triple play coupons are going to go unclaimed. Are there alternate numbers if the winners don’t come forward?

    • Mark: If the prizes go unclaimed, they will go back into the unclaimed prize fund. All unclaimed prizes by law need to be awarded back to the players, so we develop numerous promotions during the course of the year using the unclaimed prize money as a way of returning the money to the players.

  33. I donot understand if people think the Lotery is fixed why do they keep playing and when they donot win all the time they complain, I have played for many years and at times my numbers hit and when they donot, I understand thet. I have seen times when numbers come in back to back, and times a number wil come in in another state then come in in Maryland, this is just the way things happen. and it is to a players advantage to fill out a card to play numbers, I have before ask a retailer to punch in a number and found out they hit the worng number, so now i fill out a ticket and have no problems, so all you people that play should do the same. Also it is hard for any one to rig the machines, so if you think otherwise then I suggust you do not play.

  34. Recently I purchased 4 complete books (not all at the same time) of $5 scratches and none of them , I mean none of them had winners enough to cover my $300 investment. The most I got back was $250 off of one set.The scratches used to be fun to play but the big prizes are few and far between now. This is to let everybody know that buying one scratch-off and expecting to get lucky is almost as hard as winning the top prize on Mega. I’m disappointed.

    • Toots7221: Similar to other lotteries, the probability of winning a Maryland Lottery scratch-off game is determined using a standard calculation: the total number of tickets in the specific game divided by the total number of prizes in that game. As you may be aware, the odds for any particular scratch-off game are printed on the back of the ticket.

If the average chance of winning a prize is 1:5, this does not mean there is an automatic winner within every five consecutive tickets. There is no pattern as to where winning tickets will occur. Just as the possibility of purchasing a winning ticket exists, it is also possible to buy multiple tickets without receiving a winner at all. Like all lottery games, scratch-off results are purely the luck of the draw and are simply a matter of random chance.

      • I have a question about the scratch off books. Is there a minimum return per book that is calculated. Because I used to buy the whole book of a scratch off game – $5 and $10, and I was usually able to get back between $180-$220 on average. I knew that going into it as I put down $300. As a minimum, it isn’t a bad return for getting 30-60 ticket chances at the big one because you can buy 10 – $10 tickets in a store and have that string of losers which loses you that same $100 without having that chances of the whole 30 ticket book.
But recently I bought the Set For Life book and got back only $145. I thought that was unusually low. Has the minimum return been lowered? Having bought so many books and never getting back lower than $180 until recently made me really feel like there was a minimum return.

      • David: After discussing this topic with our Product Development team, they informed me that from game-to-game there can be slight variations in payout and distribution of prizes, but overall the strategy hasn’t changed. Also, for security reasons and to keep the integrity of the games truly random, we don’t dictate exactly how many prizes are in each book.

    • I too have purchased several books, 5 10 and I also have never gotten back my 300 investment. I am not complaining, just saying. It’s better to walk in the store and buy a couple of tickets I think you chances are better. I have bought several winning 500 dollar scratch offs. Even from a $3 ticket. Although one wonders, I don’t know anyone who has bought more than me, will I ever hit one bigger than $500? I surely hope so, and I will keep playing untill I do :)

      • Yes Katie, you can always walk in and just get the right ticket with a nice prize and only spend a few dollars. But for me, I like going for the big prize. Sometimes I see people scratching away tickets and when they hit a string of losers, they continue to buy and buy because they think a big one is coming (sometimes it does) but the big one that they think is coming can just be a winner of only a few dollars. So I’ve seen people end up spending close to $100-$150 and not getting anything decent back. I would personally prefer to spend that $100-$150 (with $200 more to purchase it) on the possible loss in a book of tickets with 30-60 chances of winning the big one or even a few hundred dollars more than I spent. I’ve never got my $300 back but the 30-60 chances to win the big one is why I prefer to buy the book in a gamble that has a minimum return back to me.
Sometimes I do walk in and buy a few tickets and only spend a few dollars but I think the most important thing to keep in mind is that the winning tickets can be very spread out and random and when you hit a few losers in a row, don’t get carried away and keep buying a bunch expecting a big one to be at the end of it. It isn’t always a big winner that is going to even out your losses at the end of a few losing tickets. Although it could be, it is randomly dispersed in each book.

  35. Julie from Cumberland

On the second chance Hit it here, reese’s scratch off were do we put our name & address ect…at . Do we put the info on the back of the scratch off card or on a seperate paper ?

  36. I live in Baltimore and I havent won a thing, so I truly believe it’s the luck of the draw. I have learned that complaining does not change a thing, I just keep trying. At one point I had given up but hey things may change one day, I may go broke trying…lol. And if you think its rig stop playing.

  37. Well the “Triple Play” contest is over and more than a few people did not claim their winnings. I think that after x amount of days there should be another drawing until you get a winner. That would only be fair if your aim is truly to reward those of us who play the Maryland Lottery. 12 out of 15 unclaimed as of yet! WOW! Come on now make it work for us!

    • Vanessa: The tickets are out there. Please encourage all of your fellow players to check their tickets. If the prizes go unclaimed, they will go back into the unclaimed prize fund. All unclaimed prizes by law need to be awarded back to the players, so we develop numerous promotions during the course of the year using the unclaimed prize money as a way of returning the money to the players.

  38. My exact point tonights number was 428 and it just came out the other day! NOT the “luck of the draw” it’s cheating Maryland lottery customers

    • Kyle: I must reiterate that every time a ball is drawn, it is an independent and unique event, completely unaffected by what ball was drawn seconds, hours, days, or weeks earlier. Also, our daily draw number have no relationship to what’s being drawn in other lottery states.

  39. Will there ever be a time when lottery can be purchased over the internet? Sometimes I can’t make it to the store, and this is usually when my numbers come out…

    • CS: Unfortunately, as of right now, it is against the law for us to sell any type of Lottery product online. We do not foresee that changing anytime in the near future.

  40. And I was fortunate to be one of the people who cashed in on that combination because my birthday is 1221 and I wish it would come out straight for a change but I still have my doubts about the drawings and it’s too many coiencidences to count so that’s why I feel that it is rigged. There are too many patterns in how numbers comeout in different states.Everything that comes out in Maryland comes out in Washington D.C within a weeks time.

Another complaint-I have contacted the Maryland Lottery headquarters in regards to a complaint. There is a Beer and Wine store located on Rothbury drive,in Goshen Maryland next to Giant Grocery Store and I have played numbers there. The people who work there are very rude and actually get frustrated to play numbers. There machine is always “out of order” as soon as the store opens,if your in line to play numbers the employees who work there purposely ignore customers who want to play the lottery, the television is never turned on to play keno, and there are never scratch-offs in the scratch-off box.I have complained to you all on multiple occasions and you all have said something is going to be done about this and nothing has been done about the machine. When are you all going to take action with this Beer and Wine store?

    • Kyle h: As we’ve indicated in other inquiries, every time a ball is drawn, it is an independent and unique event, completely unaffected by what ball was drawn seconds, hours, days, or weeks earlier and has no relationship to other Lottery’s.

Thank you for bringing your bad experience to our attention. We take these types of things very seriously. I will have a sales representative look into the situation and take appropriate action.

  41. I wrote once before about the lactions of winners. By the looks of the winning coupons I was right, the winners are from Baltimore. I think I should move back to the city. Then maybe I could win something.

  42. Ok what is going to be done in regards to the fairness of the drawing?I don’t have WBAL and I believe that it is only fair if the lottery number comes on a channel that everybody can see it since I pay for my tickets,I should be able to see the live drawing. And I still feel that it is rigged because how can the machine say that a number is “sold out” how is that possible?I feel that there is the same number in each machine that’s how the numbers are drawn. And to prove my point, why is it that the camera doesn’t do a close up on the ball numbers inside the machines?

    • Kyle h:
The Lottery has attempted to address this issue through agreements with other television stations around the state to broadcast our drawings. Unfortunately, these arrangements proved unsatisfactory due to an inability of potential partners to guarantee the time needed to air all of our drawings. We continue to explore additional avenues that meet our broadcast requirements and that can fit within our budget.

Please keep in mind that if you wish to watch a drawing, you can currently watch them on our website here. In addition, we are working on making them available in a more real-time manner. Lastly, the production (zoom, cuts, etc.) of the drawings has no bearing on the outcome.

In terms of “sold out” numbers, common number combinations, such as years or special sequences of numbers often ‘sell-out.’ This is typically when a lot of players are playing one of these combinations. Several number sets ‘sell-out’ for almost every drawing. Typical payouts for these types of popular combinations are quite high, and often surpass the amount of money taken in from each drawing. On March 24th, we took in $424,000 in sales, but paid out $7 million when 1212 hit that evening. On these occasions, the players playing these combinations really have a reason to celebrate! Every day, regardless of result, the goal of the Lottery remains the same – to raise revenue while providing entertaining gaming experiences. To achieve both of these goals, a $7 million dollar liability limit is in place. Once a number has sold to that potential payout, it is no longer available for wagering and is considered ‘sold out.’ That limit allows the Lottery to continue to produce revenue for the State and fund the prizes that make the games interesting and exciting.

  43. In regards to the 7-11 stores.I actually stopped going to the 7-11 on Allentown Rd in Camp Springs. They too say the machine is down or if its 9:00pm or later you can’t buy a lottery ticket or purchase a instant game. What I noticed is that at these stores the staff are muslim and do feel comfortable playing the numbers. However if you go to best 1 in TEMPLE HILLS,MD. They’ll play upto 8:45 right before they close the store. I asked this question before and didn’t get an answer. Is there a cut off on the selling of lottery tickets or is it based on the store hours…I thought since 7-11 is 24 hours you could buy an instant ticket at any time….
    Thanks

  44. I was just reading some of these comments and Paul said it best over at the Livin’ Lucky entry…

“I have complained on here before and the bottom line is you gotta play to win and be in the right place at the right time. everybody wants to win the big one, including me. However I can’t complain mdlottery and delottery has been good to me over the years and sometimes they get thier money back.. so suck it up and keep playing…”

    Nicely said Paul.

  45. I BELEIVE ALL THESEGAMES ARE RIGGED.THERE ARE MORE WINNERS IN BALTIMORE THAN ANYWHERE .I LIVE IN CHARLES COUNTY WHERE THERE ARE FEW WINNERS.ALSO IF THE LOTTERY IS LEGAL HOW CAN A NUMBER BE SOLD OUT.

  46. If nobody claims the dollar amounts for the promotion period the lottery should draw a 2nd round of coupon numbers ! It is a shame that so far 12 coupon numbers have not been claimed in my opinion that is a lot. So what will happen if nobody claims the coupons ??

    • craig: It would be a shame to see this prize money go unclaimed.

We will not be drawing secondary winners for the unclaimed tickets. If a winners prize is not claimed within the claiming period the money will go back to the unclaimed prize fund. Cash prizes from all our games that go unclaimed are put into the unclaimed prize fund and by law are required to go back to players in some capacity. We use the unclaimed prize fund throughout the year to bring special promotions to players like the Pick 3 Triple Play, Keno Sprinkler, Racetrax 6 for $5 and Hit It Here.

  47. Also someone from Baltimore wins on the triple play of the pick 3 numbers , We need winners here in Mechanicsville. I have notice everytime they always win.

  48. I GUESS I HAVE TO DRIVE FROM CAMPSPRING TO BALTIMORE TO GET A WINNING TICKET

  49. In regards to the triple play that that just ended I would like to understand how is it that you say the numbers are randomly picked but I noticed that every since it started there has always a winner from the Baltimore area.

    • Debra: Our IT department maintains a database of all Pick 3 Triple Play coupon numbers produced for the drawing period. The drawing is conducted by an IT representative, in the presence of representatives from the following departments: Security, Internal Audit, Communications and Claims. The IT Department loads the database into a random number generator that is then used to randomly select the winning bonus coupon numbers, one at a time. The first one selected wins the highest prize and so forth. Hope that helps.

  50. What happens to the unclaimed bonus tickets? Would it be possible to draw other numbers for the unclaimed tickets?

    • CS: We will not be drawing secondary winners for the unclaimed tickets. If a winners prize is not claimed within the claiming period the money will go back to the unclaimed prize fund. Cash prizes from all our games that go unclaimed are put into the unclaimed prize fund and by law are required to go back to players in some capacity. 51. I still think that it’s a scam because once again like I said numbers that come out in different states eventually come out in Maryland.I doubt very seriously that it is just a coincidence. And it still is not fair that everybody who plays the lottery is not able to see the drawing on television and on saturdays, the Maryland lottery could put up any number on the website because nobody isn’t going to know because no one see’s the drawing on that specific day. There are too many numbers that repeat themselves and I have come to the conclusion that somebody is cheating. There could be the same ball number in the machine that the number comes out on and I believe that is the case. How is it possible that 222 can come out in D.C and three other states and simultaneously come in Maryland? These drawings are a rip off and why is it that the number no longer comes on channel PBS anymore? Also sometimes when the drawing did occur that long ago, numerous of times it wouldn’t even come on it would get cut off by a commercial sorry for my frustrations but this is how I feel and I feel that what I’m saying is the truth.

    • Kyle h: You are certainly entitled to your opinion on Lottery operations, but please remember that the mission of the Agency (set by the legislation) is to make sure that every player feels that drawings are on an “even keel” as we produce revenue for the State through entertaining games. Our procedures, practices are designed to uphold the integrity of the drawings process. The thinking being that a State-run drawings process is one that players can trust due to the combination of regulations and transparency that govern our actions.

The odds are identical for every drawing and each drawing is completely random. All Maryland Lottery drawings are conducted in strict adherence to detailed procedures in order to guarantee the integrity of the results. These procedures call for numerous security checks and much testing of equipment and Lottery balls both before and after every single drawing. Security cameras document all that happens in the studio – 24 hours a day so all drawings are on record even if you can’t view them on television. To further guarantee the integrity of our drawings independent auditing firms perform unannounced visits, as do officials from the Lottery’s Security Division.

  52. Since this is the last night for this game please select someone in the (Dunkirk) Calvert County area, it really would be nice.

    • Sandra:
The final drawing has already been conducted. We cannot pin point winners, as all drawings and numbers are random.

      • there so random that the most of them are close enough to baltimore the lottery is hoping the money come back and get spent there so i dont want to hear random!!!!!!!!!!!

  53. I agree with Jerome and also I feel that there should be a class for learning how to work the lottery machines because everytime I go to play numbers all I ever hear is that “I don’t know how to work the machine so use a lottery slip” and I don’t know how to so I’m forced to have to play elsewhere

  54. My advice to everyone stay away from the 5 dollar bingo, if you scratch a row at the topp you know you are not even going to get 5 bucks and you can buy 20 of them and not get a single payback they are lousy.

  55. That may be true but I also feel that as a resident of montgomery county that it is unfair that we do not get to see the drawing on PBS anymore.I don’t get WBAL and I feel that if I’m paying for any game of chance,I should be able to see the drawing live and I feel that it is also a rip off because the drawing isn’t televised on saturdays so how is the numbers being drawed? And not to mention,I have direct tv and I can look at lottery numbers that come out in different states and I think everyone is cheating because the numbers are always the same for example in D.C triple 222 came out and with in a weeks time,it came in Maryland. In Georgia the pick 4 1221 came and in two days it came 2121 in Maryland and I don’t believe this is just a coincidence sorry

    • Kyle: Thanks for the note.

It’s only the Saturday midday (12:27 PM) drawing that does not air. The reason is because children’s programming typically airs from 10AM until anytime between 12:30 and 1:30 PM. FCC regulations prohibit the airing of Lottery drawings during any children’s programming so we conduct it off-air and scroll the winning numbers after the children’s shows are over. Sunday drawings air unless there is a national program on that cannot be interrupted…which tends to happen frequently.

Winning numbers have always been – and will continue to be – purely the luck of the draw and a matter of random chance. Numbers drawn for each of the Lottery’s daily drawing games are arbitrary. Every time a ball is drawn, it is an independent and unique event, completely unaffected by what ball was drawn seconds, hours, days, or weeks earlier. In addition, each ball drawn has the same exact chance of being drawn as any other ball in the machine, at any point in time.

Although every ball has the same exact chance of coming up per draw, random drawings do occasionally produce unusual results. Because of this, similar numbers, the same numbers, or even what appears to be a pattern or sequence may be drawn from time to time. I assure you, however, that drawings conducted are fair and random.

Back in August 5 1983 the numbers 8379 came out as 3987

  58. Jerome Bunch

Why do you allow so many retailers to have terminals that they use strictly as a draw to attract customers to their stores and not to allow customers to play there numbers??? There should be a baseline minimum $ amount for sales or the machine should be removed !!! Lots of 7-11 stores do this every time you enter they say the machine is down or we are not playing lottery tickets right now…..the machine is what made you enter the store and after you purchased other items they won’t allow you to play your numbers !!!!

    • Jerome:
We actually become extremely disappointed when we hear stories of this nature. We want our players to have the best experience possible when purchasing and playing our games. We are making a conscious effort to address these types of issues with our retailer partners and are encouraging players to write in specific instances so we can look into each instance and address accordingly. Please feel free to send in specific locations and I’ll be happy to have a sales representative look into it for you.

      • Jerome Bunch

The 7-11 that I speak of is located in Baltimore at Franklintown Rd. and Franklin St. I live not far from the store and have been turned away from playing lottery on atleast 10 occasions at various times of the day. Additionally, when waiting in line you usually see people ask about playing lottery and the staff say NO. It is obvious that convenience stores always get traffic, but the lottery machines are definitely a draw especially near drawing times and when powerball and mega million jackpots soar. They will tell you another reason why they cannot play your numbers everyday !!!! Its RIDICULOUS….I AM ALWAYS TOO EARLY, TOO LATE, OR THEY ARE JUST NOT PLAYING LOTTERY.

    • I AM IN AGREEMENT WITH JEROME. THE 7-11 IN DOWNTOWN SILVER SPRING, MD ON COLESVILLE RD DOES THIS A LOT. THE WORST 7-11 IS ON SILVER HILL RD IN SUITLAND, MD. THEY ALWAYS HAVE 3 OR 4 WORKERS IN THERE. THEY JUST DON’T WANT TO RUN THE MACHINE.

    • I agree with Jerome. 7’11s are the worst when you have a winning ticket. If they sell lottery tickets they should be able to pay-out when you win. I have taken lottery tickets to be cashed at the 7-11 on Furnace Branch Road and if it is $100 or more they always say the cannot cash it. It should be if you sell the tickets – you should be able to cash it if it is $500 or less.

    • I work for 7-Eleven at the Woodbine Store off of 94. We are in Woodbine Maryland. I sell alot of Lottery for our location. We are a coporate store. You are more welcome to come to our store to play.

  59. I would like to see the MD Lottery implement DOUBLE YOUR WINNINGS. EX. pick 3 if your number comes 592 straight$ 1.00 instead of $500.00 you win $1000.00 you win double even for the pick 4. New Jersey does this from time to time and appears to be a good way of giving back to the many lottery player. Let’s give it a try . I play the Lottery every day.

    • Play: From time to time we do have doubler and even tripler promotions. We recently had a Keno Sprinkler where you could double and triple your winnings, as well as a Racetrax Doubler.

I will send along your note to our Product Development team for future consideration. Please stay tuned for future promotional announcements.

  60. When will you bring back the drawings on TV because the phone # 4102308830 does not always have the #s or the line is always busy I live in the Prince Georges area Help with this answer

    • Melody: The Lottery’s television partner is WBAL-TV Channel 11, one of Maryland’s most watched stations. While there are some regions of the State to the east and west that WBAL cannot reach, the station’s strong signal reaches the majority of Maryland’s viewing audience.

Please remember that, in addition to TV and Phone, winning numbers always can be found on the Lottery’s website at mdlottery.com, in many local newspapers and by visiting any of the more than 4,000 Maryland Lottery retail locations across the State.

Thanks for taking the time to write in. We appreciate hearing from all of our players.

  61. Patsy Jenkins

Has there been a drawing for the cinema cash for the non-winning tickets that were mailed in? If not when will the drawing take place?

  62. I love the scratch off tickets but have 1 complaint/observation on one particular ticket … on the $20 Gold Bar Bonus ticket why are there money amounts printed under the GOLD BARS? Why weren’t the tickets printed with “SEE LEGEND” like the Diamond Mine tickets were. It is very confusing to scratch off a Gold Bar with a money amount under it only to find out that you haven’t won anything! The first time I pruchased this particular ticket I scratched off a single gold bar with $5,000 underneath and thought I had won imagine my surprise when I was told “NOT A WINNER” by the clerk. I didn’t believe him so I took the ticket home and sat down and read the details on the back of the ticket, and found you can’t win with a single gold bar you only win if you with 2 or more Gold Bars or match one of the winning numbers. I was in the same stroy a few days later and another customer thought he had won a million dollars on the same ticket he was confused too he had done the same thing; scratched off a single bar and saw a dollar amount and thought he had won a cash prize. Confusing to say the least!!!!!

    • Bee Jay: Thanks for the note. We appreciate the constructive criticism. I will definitely pass this along to our Product Development team so we can improve the manner in which games of this nature are designed.

  63. I do believe that the the numbers for pick three, and pick four are chosen before each drawing by way of a magnetic piece placed inside the balls of the choen numbers. How is it hat a number can be for instance , 605,and the next drawing will be,615 ? it has happen so much that I and many people feel that this is much more than coincidence, as a fact, this has just happen in the four digit drawing as well, where one number was one up from the previous drawing. I don’t think you can tell us much different!

    • Justsherloc: Winning numbers have always been – and will continue to be – purely the luck of the draw and a matter of random chance. 64. I would like to know if a retailer who participates in selling MD Lottery tickets as well as scratch offs can refuse to cash a winning scratch off ticket if it’s for a scratch off game they are not currently selling. I was under the impression if the retailer sold scratch offs they had to accept and cash winning scratch offs regardless of whether or not they are currently selling the scratch off game that the customer has a winning ticket for purchased at another retail location. Does the retailer have this pick and choose option for cashing winning scratch offs?

    • Lori: If the retailer sells scratch-off tickets, they should cash all scratch-offs. Please feel free to send in the location of the retailer, as well as any additional details and we’ll have a sales representative look into the situation.

For more information on how to claim, please click here.

  65. PATRICIA TOLSON

With the new game triple play all the $50k & $25k have not been claimed actually only three out of all the drawings have been claimed-will I Md Lottery do a second drawning for second change winners. Please Please.

    • Patricia: Winners will have 60 days to claim the prize and if they don’t, the prizes will go back to the unclaimed prize fund. All unclaimed prizes, by way of Maryland state law, need to be awarded back to the players, so we develop numerous promotions during the coarse of the year like the Pick 3 Triple Play, Keno Sprinkler and Hit It Here, using the unclaimed prize money as a way of returning the money to the players.

  66. I notice the pattarn that this new female have established and the same numbers since she have been interm director. How can this be?I also have been playing for md lottery for 40,years and these numbers have never come out.(7-10-16-36-42)also (8379)can you please explain this if its not rigged.

    • N.Myrick: Winning numbers have always been – and will continue to be – purely the luck of the draw and a matter of random chance. 67. too too too many in baltimore and i will agree the closer to baltimore the better chance you have and that my friend is total crap!!!!!!!!!

  68. I’ve had pretty good luck with Pick 3 & Pick 4. I like this new promotion although I haven’t won anything on it – yet.

I wanted to ask – why doesn’t Maryland Lottery have the Mega Millions multiplier like Pennsylvania does? We have it for Powerball. I’d like a chance to win more on Mega. Even the small prizes pay off better with it.

  69. Why don’t md lottery have a promotion for pick4, like say if you get 3 nbrs out of 4 you can win maybe a 150.00. because since you get 200.00 if nbrs are double if you play 50cents and 400.00 if play 1.00 That happens to me all the time, like last night (6/19/10) nbrs were 1997 and all I needed was a one, been playing that nbr for a while and always miss by one. I look forward to your comment on a promotion like that and maybe not have so many new scratchoffs and just keep the ones out now

    • Scorpio: I will send your idea to the Product Development department for future consideration. You never know what they’ll come up with next. We always try to offer a wide range of games, as well as promotions like Keno Sprinkler, Racetrax 6 for $5, and the Pick 3 Triple Play, to appeal to all types of players.

    • I totally agree. Why is there never a promotion for pick 4? And I would like to know if it is because more people play pick 4 so you don’t need to boost sales. I play both but I would rather win 5000.00 for my dollar than 500.00 so I don’t usually bother with the pick 3. I’ve been playing bonus match 5 lately and and it’s been paying off pretty good. I live in Baltimore and the reason many winners are from here is simple. More people live and play here than anywhere else in the state. It hasn’t made me a millionaire yet, but I can dream about it.

      • nikki51964: Our research indicates that a larger number of people play Pick 3 and we like to reach the largest number of people when we offer promotions. A Pick 4 promotion is a good suggestion and we will consider it in the future.

  70. Help! I would like to know if there is anything that can be done if you played a number and did not get your tickets and your number is a winner. At the time I purchased pick 3 tickets and bought some scratches . I received the scratches , but did not receive my tickets. I didn’t realize it until the number was drawn. I went back to the store the next morning to see if they had put the tickets up . That did not happen. What recourse do I have, if any.

Can maryland lottery tell who cash the ticket?

I know it is my responsibility to check my tickets before I leave the store. If there is something that can be done please let me know.
The ticket was worth $250.00. Thank You.

    • Grandma 65: We always recommend players call our Security office (410-230-8800) in matters like this. They will be able to give you an answer. However, from the sounds of it, it does not appear that they will be able to do anything in this particular instance. Hopefully I am wrong! As you said, please always double check to make sure your tickets are input properly and that you’ve received them. Good luck in the future.

  71. I have a scratch off ticket where a part of the bar code on the back was torn off by mistake. The retailer stated that he could not cash the ticket. Can I mail my ticket in to cash it ? The ticket is only for $5.00.

  72. Is there a pick 3 number that has NEVER come up…….A virgin # …so to speak ??

  73. your giving away tickets to see PHISH……
When Jerry Garcia comes back from the grave to play with the dead………..lemme know.

  74. I THINK BECAUSE THE LOTTERY HEADQUARTERS IS IN BALTIMORE THAT’S WHY THE MAJORITY WINNERS ARE IN BALTIMORE. FOR THE COUPON WINNERS THERE ARE 5OF 12 WINNERS IN BALTIMORE SEE WHAT I MEAN

  75. Eric Pinchak

DOES ANYONE ELSE BUT ME NOTICE THAT THERE ARE ONLY 3 WINNERS FOR ALL THE SECOND CHANCE DRAWINGS AND THEY ALL WON THE $10,000 PRIZE!!!!!!!!!!!! IT IS ABSOLUTELY NNOOOTTT A COINCIDENCE THAT THE 25 AND 50 THOUSAND DOLLAR DRAWINGS ARE UNCLAIMED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Eric: Please encourage everyone you know to check their coupons!!!!! During the promotional period we were giving out coupons at a rate of every 15 Pick3 ticket of $1 or more across the state. An extremely large volume of bonus coupons hit the state. Unfortunately, coupons are thrown away or misplaced and prizes aren’t claimed. If that occurs, the winnings go right back into the unclaimed prize fund and help us fund additional promotions like the Pick 3 Triple Play, Keno Sprinkler, Racetrax 6 for $5, Hit It Here and much more. The unclaimed prize funds always make their way back to players one way or another.

  76. kathyfromdundalk

we play pick3 and pick4 everyday/night we have recieved 1 coupon. what is the ratio of getting a coupon?

    • kathyfromdundalk: The promotion is now over, but during the promotion period the coupons were being dispersed at every 15th Pick3 ticket of $1 or more across the state (with over 4,000 retailers). In the future we would recommend buying your tickets off peak hours. Peak hours usually occur 2 hours before each draw.

  77. Seems to me that the highest amounts are the ones unclaimed hmmm seems kind of fishy to me.

    • chon: Nothing fishy. We just haven’t had anyone come into claim yet, but we’re hopeful! If the prizes are claimed, they will go right back into the unclaimed prize fund and make their way back to players with additional promotions and contests.

Also, speaking of fishy, we’re giving away tickets to see Phish at Merriweather Post Pavilion next week via Twitter. Follow us to learn how you can win.

  78. Hi,
I love playing the MD Lotto. I have won this promotion for $100.00 three times at the same place I play almost every day. I am waiting for the day when I hit really hit big. I hit frequently pick three and sometime pick four. I love the scratch-off’s also.

  79. DO YOU HAVE TO BE 18YEARS OF AGE OR 21 TO CASH A TICKET

  80. I don’t play the Scratch-offs but I am an avid 3 and 4-digit lottery player. I play both MD and DC. The MD Lottery has been good to me. I play the same numbers every day, even if it hits. Don’t give up because you get close and are 1 number away. My motto is “Scared Money Don’t Win”. My Goal is to win the “MEGA” and/or the “Powerball”. Good Luck to everyone who plays.

  81. Why doesn’t the lottery list winning tickets unclaimed and where they were purchased at least on a monthly bases. Honestly, I buy a ticket here or there and put it a pocket that I have on it and forget about it until I put the article of clothing on again. I think the Maryland Lottery should be more vigilant in posting unclaimed tickets and where they were purchased “more front page news” instead of just the winners. That way the winner does not have to wonder if the ticket was ever a winner when it is to late to claim it. I look at the website alot to check numbers but like I said, if I saw that it was from a place that I likely frequently, it would make me more aware of searching for a ticket that a possibly brought!

    • SuperStar: Since the start of this blog we have tried to become more transparent in publishing winners names and even winning coupon numbers in reference to special promotions and contests. If a player is looking for past promotions, they can use the search bar to look up specific information. We hope to improve this even more with adjustments to our website coming this fall.

Also, we have equipped all retailers with ticket checkers so it is convenient for all of our players to stop in and quickly scan their regular game tickets themselves to see if they are winners.

  82. PLEASE CAN SOME ONE GIVE ME ONE PICK 3 AND ONE PICK 4 LUCKY NUMBERS SEEMS LIKE MY NUMBERS 437 AND 6344 AREN’T TO LUCKY ANYMORE. THANK YOU

    • i was broke and couldnt play my number, someone asked whats the lucky one ? i told him my number, he played i didnt, it came out straight !
didnt tip me a dollar either >_<
      1109 good luck !
this happened about 6 years ago…

  83. robert w. stone sr

lets see if you post this. when the lottery started years ago, i hit two or three times a year, biggest hit was 1580.00. but over the years, the state has brought these fly by night outfits in to run the lottery and since then, the winnings have been nil. and you say it is all random. what a joke.

    • Robert: Scientific Games is our current gaming vendor, and has been since 1996. Although it is unfortunate that it sounds like you have not had any wins of significance since they began running our network of gaming sales machines, they have no ability to control the outcome of our games. You are entitled to your opinion on Lottery operations, but please remember that the mission of the Agency (set by the legislation) is to make sure that every player feels that drawings are on an “even keel” as we produce revenue for the State through entertaining games. Our procedures, practices are designed to uphold the integrity of the drawings process. The thinking being that a State-run drawings process is one that players can trust due to the combination of regulations and transparency that govern our actions.

  84. When players complain that the lottery numbers are not shown on television, you always tell them to go to the website. Have you ever thought that not every household has a computer. On a side note, i live in Harford County and very rarely do you see winners from here.

    • Karramell: The website is just one of the many ways players can check their numbers. They can also call our numbers line and visit any Maryland Lottery retailer. Many local newspapers also publish our results. We are also working on additional ways (budget permitting) to bring numbers to players including RSS (really simple syndication) feeds and mobile text messages.

  85. I offten woundered why ML does not have a pick 3 and pick 4 like Mass does, there you can buy a Lottery ticket Pick 3 or Pick 4 for 30 days both midday and evening. I think that would be GREAT, how about looking into something like that.

As far as winning I have yet to win anything over $2 on the scratch offs. and the pick 3 and pick 4 well I just keep on trying one day I will Hit one of them. I am always one away no matter how I play it I am still one away LOL.

Another thing what happens to all the money that is not claimed?? where does it go? and please dont say for the ROADS.
we have the worst roads in the country, it should go for the Seniors, like PA.
thats all I got ta say……………/oo\

    • WoollyBear65: Love that screen name by the way!!!

I love your the Pick 3/Pick 4 suggestion. I will forward that over to our product development department for future consideration.

The unclaimed money DOES NOT go to the general fund (roads, public safety, etc.) All unclaimed prizes (unfortunately it happens all too often) go to our unclaimed prize fund, which helps us plan promotions for all of games such as the Pick 3 Triple Play, Keno Sprinklers, Racetrax Doublers and the Hit It Here contest.

  86. Desiree Booze

Take a bus trip watch the number of the bus come out but you must play before you leave. I hit when I do this.

  87. Desiree Booze

My grand son was in the hospital so I played his room number I hit st. bx. Its all in luck, when ever he goes to the hospital his room number comes out. IT’s all about luck you have to belived in what you are playing.

  88. I went to a local resturant/bar this weekend right by my house..I tried to play pick 3 and 4 and they said they don’t do that. Only Keno and Racetrax~I don’t understand that. Is is the retailers choice?

  89. What is up? The top TWO TIER prizes “UNCLAIMED” for all 4 weeks of picks???!!!!

Come on, who would be so dumb. I have been religiously buying these tickets; religiously checking my numbers; and nothing. Why are so many people ignoring there damn tickets.

    • Kray Z: Yes, we do have several top tier prizes go unclaimed. We have asked our sales reps to remind all retailers to tell players to check their tickets. We’re reminding players through all of our internal platforms as well. We certainly don’t want a deserving player to miss out on their winnings. However, unfortunately it does happen. That money goes back into what we call the unclaimed prizes fund and finds its way back to players through future promotions.

  90. i THINK ALL THESE GAMES ARE SOMEHOW RIGGED FOR THE BALTIMORE AREA EVERY TIME111111

  91. I PLAY THREE AND FOUR DIGITS EVERY DAY. SO FAR THIS YEAR NOT EVEN A BOX.
IS IT WINNERS BY TERMINAL LOCATION
ALWAYS ONE NUMBER OFF .ME AND MY FRIENDS SAME COMPLAINTS. WHO REGULATES THESE DRAWINGS . ANY GOVT AGENCIES?

    • John: All drawings adhere to strict procedures and guidelines. They are videotaped and witnessed by numerous representatives, including an independent Auditor and Security Officials to keep the integrity of the game in tact.

      • I totally agree with you John Cant believe this is regulated as striclty as they claim!!! The only way to guarantee my number will come out is if I decide to not play that day!!! Its as if you guys know! I have been played my address for 11 years and has yet to come out straght!!

    • I agree with John Chism’s comment. I too play three and four digits daily and can’t even get a boxed number. Either one off, don’t play it and it comes out, or the same damn numbers come back. Becasuse of this, the MSL won’t get another dime from me. It doesn’t make a difference to me that there are numerours respresentatives present. So what??????

    • you’re playing the wrong numbers

  92. martina elkerson

I WAS IN NEW JERSEY RECENTLY AND THEY HAVE A PROGRAM THAT BENEFITS THEIR SENIORS FROM THE NEW JERSEY LOTTERY DO WE HAVE ANYTHING SIMULAR THAT COULD HELP STRUGGLING SENIORS IF NOT MAYBE CREATE A SCRATCH OFF THAT COULD HELP WITH PROCEEDS GOING TO AIDE OUR ELDERLY

    • Martina: We do not have a program that where revenues go directly to our elderly. All Lottery revenues are deposited into the State’s General Fund. In 2009, Over $493 million was contributed to support such services and programs as education, public health, human resources, public safety and much more, all of which greatly benefit the citizens of Maryland. You can view more about the benefits to Marylanders here.

  93. I for one can’t understand why md and all the other states involved with megamillion and powerball can’t pay the full amount won, why should the players who keep you in business have to wait 30 years to get their total winnings and if they take the cash option be penalized 1/2 their winnings and still have to pay taxes on that, in some cases we are losing 100 million dollars.

foreign lotteries pay you the amount won tax free, but the usually greedy state and fed governments want their piece of your pie, which is surely double taxation, some weekly lotteries take in 10 times as much as the prize yet 18 states in cohoots can’t come up with the grand prize total won …tax free or at the least 100 million won..100 million paid, and if they take the annuity they share the interest.
most prizes at the least up to say 25 million should be tax free, with all the states involved with pwrball and mega they can surely make that happen and not lose a dime, i know lots of people who don’t play us lotteries but play foreign ones simply because of american lotteries unfair payment schemes. just changing that payment policy would generate 100(s) of millions in revenue.
    thank you

  94. Thanks for your previous answer. How many ticket sales on a combination take place before it is “sold out” and you can’t buy that combination in the pick-3 game? thx again.

    • Rodney: Pick 3 & Pick 4 numbers are considered “sold out” or “cut off” if the total liability (payout) of winnings on that number should be greater than $7,000,000.

  95. What happens to the uncliamed prizes?

    • Player: Unclaimed prizes during this promotion and for all of our games go into the unclaimed prize fund. The unclaimed prize fund is used to bring product specific promotions to players and always finds its way back to players.

  96. I know every body that plays the lottery has high hopes of winning, including myself. Big dreams don’t always come true every thing that shines don’t giltter, I say the same thing every day that I play, I hope I hit the lottery and the lottery don’t hit me. If it is meant to be it will happen if not it won’t. But one thing for certain, you have to play to win.

  97. john in baltimore

i play lottery everyday and i play heavy i have never won anything big but i am hopeful if i was like u i would not play at all u obviously can not afford to loose that dollar play within your means and remember its only a game goodluck to all you mature players and do not hate on a winner

  98. I am happy for all the winners, but I wish there would start being more winners in Montgomery County.Where I live,I have never heard anybody winning prizes like this and it’s unfair that each drawing, somebody from Baltimore has one.Pick another area!

    • Kyle:
The geographic location of all of our winners is completely random. Winning numbers have always been – and will continue to be – purely the luck of the draw and a matter of random chance. Every time a ball is drawn, it is an independent and unique event, completely unaffected by what ball was drawn seconds, hours, days, or weeks earlier. Scratch-off’s and 2nd chance drawings are also random.

One of the cool things about this blog is that its given us the ability to archive winners stories (dating back to February 2009) for our players to easily reference stories near them. I just did a quick search of a few surrounding cities in Montgomery County including Germantown, Gaithersburg, Rockville, and Silver Spring and in the past 16 months those cities have generated more than 25 winners stories from a variety of game types and a wide variety of winnings. Recently, a Silver Spring man won $50,000 playing Lucky Times 20 and a Poolesville Man won $10,000 with Powerball.

I hope this helps clear things up a bit. Good luck to you and yours in the future.

  99. a lot of people have noted that winners are from Baltimore…that is absolutely not true. Most winners are from Baltimore County (Dundalk, Glen Burnie, Pikesville, Owings Mills). We rarely have big winners. The lottery list these counties as Baltimore City because city residents, such as myself, complain! I don’t really think there are real winners. The lottery wins not the people.

    • Lisa: As I responded to Neil in an earlier message, we’re sorry you’re frustrated, but the winners are truly random and we have not control on where and when they will occur. Since the inception of this blog and after archiving past winners dating back to February 2009 (a total of almost 16 months), we’ve posted 330 winners stories from all of our games. These posts include winners from all over the state including Oakland, Ocean City, Hagerstown, Germantown, Temple Hills, Pasadena and more.

We’ve also been working hard to bring you real interviews of winners when they claim. Take Angela Generette for instance. She just won $50,000 with Extreme Cash Blast in February. You can view all of our winners videos including our dramatic re-enactments (true stories) at our YouTube channel.

I hope this helps clear things up a bit. Good luck to you and yours in the future.

  100. I ALSO BEEN PLAYING THE LOTTERY NOW 25 YRS, AND I ALWAYS PLAY THE SAME 5 NUMBERS ON ALL THE BIG GAMES. AND I ONLY HIT $15.00 ON MEGA MILLIONS, IT SEEMS THERE ARE FAR AND FEW WINNERS ON THE EASTREN SHORE. I LIVE IN A SMALL TOWN CALLED WILLARDS, AND I BUY TICKETS FROM OCEAN CITY TO CAMBRIDGE AND MOST PEOPLE I TALK TO DOWN HERE ALL SAY THE SAME THING,EVEN THE INSTANT SCRATCH OFFS SEEM TO BE RIP OFFS.IF ITS THE SO CALLED LUCK OF THE DRAW IT SURE PAST UP THE EASTREN SHORE AND THE LITTLE TOWNS DONT HAVE A SNOW BALL CHANCE IN DOULBLE HOCKEY STICKS IN WINNING ANY SIZEABLE JACKPOT HERE. GOOD LUCK TO ALL U PLAYERS STILL WAITING ON THAT ONE BIG PAYDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Neil: Sorry to hear that you’re frustrated. The primary reason for creating this platform was to create an open dialogue with our players and to learn from their Lottery experiences. One of the things we’ve learned is that the public perception is that winners are not coming from the areas they live in. Baltimore City players believe the winners are coming from elsewhere. Players in western Maryland believe the same thing and so on.

It’s probably hard for you to take us at our word, but the geographic location of all of our winners is completely random.

I just did a quick search of surrounding cities on the eastern shore including Easton, Cambridge, Salisbury, Berlin, Crisfield and Ocean City and in the past 16 months those cities have generated 19 winners stories from a variety of game types and a wide variety of winnings. Recently, James Perrone just won $40,000 playing Keno at the Clarion Hotel in Ocean City and Gorman Abbott of Crisfield just won $50,000 playing the Bucks Deluxe scratch-off.

I hope this helps clear things up a bit. Good luck to you and yours in the future.

      • you forgot to mention that the Ravens scratchoff here on the Eastern Shore netted a Queenstown family $1,000.000.oo

  101. Mayland Lottery I live in Crisfied MD. An play the pick 3 every day an night. Get 3 to 4 coupons a day. An thier has never been a $100.00 dollar winner here. But I see comments that some people have gottin 2 winning tickets in one day. So I would like to know how is that being random. Its to many country in MD for it too be hitting in the same places. Place don”t say it more people play in these area . If thats your answer that random because more people play their then were is the fairness .

    • Tisha’miss: The number of coupons produced is the same now as it was in the beginning and has no correlation to geographic location. It’s on an “nth” ticket basis which means that every “nth” Pick 3 ticket purchased throughout our over 4,000 retailers will be accompanied by a coupon. For example, if the nth number was 10, every 10th ticket purchased throughout Maryland will receive a coupon.

  102. I have played the same 6 numbers since lotto started about 34 years ago. I play these same 6 numbers on multi-match mega million cash in hand and i play 5 of these numbers on match 5. what are the odds that in 34 years these numbers have not come out the most I have ever won is $150.00 on mega million one time. I believe the lottery is rigged I just keep hoping that you rig it in my favor one time

    • jas: Thanks for the note. We have a lot of players that play a consistent sequence of numbers like you do.

  103. Eric Pinchak

Really Frustrated….took back up playing pick 3 again in large part to the promotional second chance. It is exciting but out of about 35 second chance tickets, i’ve yet to match the last two digits and there hasn’t been a grand prize winner even close to Hagerstown!!!! Just frustrated..makes me wonder how they’re drawn..i know the odds of winning are not good but still…also collected the 4 letters for the mail in entry for CASH FOR LIFE 2 and mailed it in…How do i know that it’s even been received or i even stand a chance??? I guess i better just stick to working hard for a living. :)

    • Eric: We’re sorry you feel frustrated. Please keep in mind that all drawings, including second-chance contests, are conducted following strict guidelines and procedures. Representatives from many departments, including Internal Audit and Security, are present for all drawings. All drawings are random, and purely the luck of the draw.

The Set for Life II drawing has not yet taken place. We have received tens of thousands of entries for this contest. The date of the drawing will be announced after the final claim date for the ticket is determined.

  104. I too believe people are throwing the tickets away. I almost threw away a bunch and decided to check them and had two winning tickets.

  105. If research tells you that more winners come from areas of the State in which more people are playing; then why do I see so many 2nd chance winners in Baltimore and none in the Camp Springs/Temple Hills area. It was once published that more numbers were played in the Camp Springs/Temple Hills area than any other area in the state of MD.

    • JJay: We do see more winners from higher populated sections of the state. However, everything is still purely the luck of the draw. We have no control who wins and where the winners are from.

We actually had a few big winners in your area recently. Please take a look at our winners stories. There you’ll see we have winners from all over the state. In fact, we have recently had a few great winners from Temple Hills including a $250,000 Mega Millions winner and a $1 million winner from Ravens Cash Fantasy.

  106. stewart wollman

why is the pick 3 pick 4 not shown on sat.
    midday?

    • Stewart: It’s only the Saturday midday (12:27 PM) drawing that does not air. The reason is because children’s programming typically airs from 10AM until anytime between 12:30 and 1:30 PM. FCC regulations prohibit the airing of Lottery drawings during any children’s programming so we conduct it off-air and scroll the winning numbers after the children’s shows are over. Sunday drawings air unless there is a national program on that can not be interrupted…which tends to happen frequently.

  107. What happens if the numbers that was pick is not claimed in 60 days. Will there be new numbers or should we just throw the tickets away.

    • Rose: If any of the Pick 3 Triple Play prizes go unclaimed, that money will go back to the unclaimed prize fund. Prizes in the unclaimed prize fund always go back to the players, usually through another second-chance contest. Alternate coupons will not be selected.

  108. I think the reason a lot of the prizes are unclaimed is because people are probably throwing the coupon in the trash after scanning and seeing a “Not a Winner” message on the screen of the ticket scanners. They probably are not aware they need to hold on to the ticket, even if after scanning, until Wednesday’s drawing. A lot of confusion, especially for older people.

  109. no luck for me , go CHARLE TOWN slot machine betters ,

  110. I love playing the lottery. It is fun, but you have to play wisely. It a chance you take. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. I feel that it is up to the person playing to be wise and just remember that you are playing for fun and that is why it is calling gambling you are just taking a chance. Remember you play the lottery don’t let the lottery play you. :)

  111. Hassen Ben Layed

What if the prizes go unclaimed ? Do we hold our older promo tickets for a 2nd chance drawing ?

    • Hassen: If any of the Pick 3 Triple Play prizes go unclaimed, that money will go back to the unclaimed prize fund. Prizes in the unclaimed prize fund always go back to the players, usually through another second-chance contest.

  112. Joseph Whetsell

I get sick and tired of all the people that complain about the lottery being unfair. It is a chance you take by playing they call it gambling for a reason. Not everyone can win. They give us a chance to win and that’s all we can ask for. Kudos to you the maryland lottery for all the bonus chances to win when we play. Just one request can you bring back the Keno Patrol it was alot of fun! And to you complainers out there I did not win at the Keno Patrol but I did have alot of fun! So keep up the good work Maryland lottery! JOE :)

  113. If the lottery is truly random how is it that there is only one mega winner or powerball winner in all those states playing..statistically not probable

    • gloria: The overall odds of winning a Mega Millions jackpot are 1 in 175 million. To win a Powerball jackpot, the odds are 1 of 195 million. Many Marylanders win other prizes each time one of these drawings are held. For example, more than 20,000 Maryland residents won Mega Millions prizes last Friday and more than 15,000 from the last Powerball drawing. We actually just had a 2nd tier Powerball ticket sold in Glen Burnie and we’ve had multiple 2nd tier Mega Millions winners this year.

    • Gloria, I agree with your post! If the numbers for mega million, powerball, and multimatch are random, how come there is 99 percent of the time, one winner for the big jackpots. All of those states playing and only one winner! I wish they would have someone inspect all the balls and machines before every drawing in front of a live audience.

Then I would believe that the lottery is real.

  114. lucksonmy side

I agree with the one that says when the pot gets big…the money goes elsewhere. I have played so many second chance games I am second chance out…why is it so many winners at least in the biggest games come from Bmore? I am going to try one more time and then I will do what my husband say…don’t play and you are a winner.

    • lucksonmyside: The geographic locations of our winners are random. There is no way to predict where the winners will be. However, research tells us that more winners come from areas of the State in which more people are playing.

Check out our HOT FIVE. These games have low inventory with great prizes remaining. We publish a new HOT FIVE the final Saturday of each month.

  115. Rodney Vise

What’s up with the Pick-3? Ever since this new director came in Its like the numbers have really become truly “random”…..yeah right. How many pre-draws are ya’ll doing? and if you are pre-drawing the machines like they were RNG would you post those results? thx.

    • Rodney: Winning numbers have always been – and will continue to be – purely the luck of the draw and a matter of random chance.

  116. Hi Maryland lottery.. I have lost a ton of money on Racetrax..The reason is your limited amount of games. Only up to 20.. Please consider a $.25cent game or name the game Racetrax/Pack and let me win on my quinellas that do come out but not when I play.. It’s only fair.. George/Charles County Maryland.

  117. what is the percentage of tickets sold on the Big 8 Bingo scratch offs?

  118. WHY IS IT SO HARD TO WIN?

  119. I was pleased to see the Lottery commision was going to be in charge of the MD Slots inititive. However, the stunning news that MD will be paying $46, 000 for each new slot machine, while other states pay approx $10,000 per machine shows that political influence will ruin what should be an above reproach contract. Starting off like this will give the impression to the public that the slots in MD will degenerate into another fiasco with political interests tainting what should always appear as a fair & honest enterprise. This contract shows that special interests & the politicions will get their cut before any players have even invested a dime into the machines. I thought the Lottery was above all this kind of shenanigans.

  120. Bob Lamoreaux

How long does the current contract with WBAL TV last. I am tired of so many viewable drawings not being seen on time or at all (when they post the numbers at the bottom for 10 seconds). It seems like WBAL constantly has a different reason not to show the drawing live and ON TIME. At least WJZ used to do a ‘Cut-in” shot of the live drawing on time.

    • I agree with you Mr. Lamoreaux, however, you can always go to the maryland lottery website and see what number played. The numbers are usually available on the web by 8:10pm.
      Good luck playing the lottery.

  121. Please explain! a wild back I happen to watch on WJZ channal the winning numbers for that night, just so happen I changed the channal to WBAL they was just drawing the same numbers that I just seen on WJZ. Now how is that to be.

    • f fenner: The Lottery’s television partner is WBAL-TV Channel 11, one of Maryland’s most watched stations. WBAL broadcasts a wide variety of our drawings. Additional local networks also choose to air our results utilizing their bottom scroll.

  122. george r wurston

When I get my midday pick 3 tickets on my way to work I give the clerk my playslip, and sometimes he will tell me the machine is down and I can’t get my tickets. The clerk will hand me a print out that says” Transaction status: (3) BAD PARAM VERSION”. What is this and why does this happen? I get my tickets at the Highs Deli store on Bel Air South Parkway in Bel Air at about 6:10 to 6:15 AM. the store opens at 5:00 AM.

    • george r wurston

So, how long is my comment going to be awaiting moderstion?

      • George: My sincere apologies. I have been trying to get an answer from IT and have not heard back. I’ll continue to follow up so I can get you an answer ASAP.

      • i’M SURE IT WILL TAKE SOME TIME AND EFFORT TO RECEIVE AN ANSWER FROM IT REGARDING WHY 18 OR MORE STATES COMBINED TO BRING US PWR BALL AND MEGA CAN’T GATHER ENOUGH MONIES TO PAY THE WINNER THE ADVERTISED JACKPOT WITHOUT PENALTIES.LET’S FACE THE FACTS..IT TAKES SEVERAL WEEKS TO BUILD UP A JACKPOT TO 100 OR MORE MILLION AND THEY TAKE IN BILLIONS FROM PLAYERS..IT SHOULD NOT TAKE 30 YEARS FOR THE WINNER TO COLLECT THAT JACKPOT.

      • Sam: Powerball annuities are paid out over 30 years and Mega Millions annuities are paid out over 26 years. Annuities are essentially bonds. The cash option amount equals the amount the Lottery pays to purchase the annuity. It’s like a US Savings Bond – if you cash it out early, you will not receive the full value at the time of cashing. If you wait for the bond to mature, you’ll receive the full value. Hope this helps answer your question.

    • george: The error message represents a failure in either the terminal software load or status change. All retailers are instructed to call the hotline as soon as possible to get the matter fixed so it doesn’t effect player experience.

  123. Howard Reed

Must be some truth in what I said about doubles
because you took of my comment.

    • Howard: Your comment was not deleted. We monitor all comments before they go live so we can respond appropriately. We try to get to each comment/question within at least 24-48 hours (and sometimes even faster). We appreciate hearing from all of our players and strive to give them answers in as timely a manner as possible.

  124. Thanks, Maryland Lottery I received (2) $100 winning coupons for the same evening drawing.
These winnings will be used to continue to play the MegaMillions and PowerBall games. Please let my comments stay posted for others to see!

  125. Rickey Graves Sr.

Thankyou, Maryland Lottery for letting me win
$200 last week with (2) bonus coupons on the same night! I look forward to winning either the Powerball and/or the Megamillions game.

  126. Howard Reed

Hello As you all say (You have to play to win)
can you tell me why all the midday and evening drawing have a double number in them,if you look at both drawings for 30 days it works out to be more double numbers drawn, is this done so you don’t have to pay out money? I just find it hard to believe that a double number can be drawn every day what are the odds .

    • Howard: Thanks for the note. Hope all is well.

  127. How come it seams that the longer the game goes on the less the machine kicks out the coupons. The machines in A.A. don,t kick them out as much as they did when you began this game, why?

    • Charles: The number of coupons produced is the same now as it was in the beginning. It’s on an “nth” ticket basis which means that every “nth” Pick 3 ticket purchased throughout the state will be accompanied by a coupon. For example, if the nth number was 10, every 10th ticket purchased throughout Maryland will receive a coupon.

  128. Do the lottery think it is odd for the current triple play promotion for the coupons for the 3 major drawings only the 2nd chance part only 2 of 9 have been claim. Its a good promotion but maybe next time the first part of having the last 2 numbers for that evening pick 3 could be up to may 250.00 instead of a 100.00 and thats it. Its a shame for this money to be unclaimed. wished it was one of mines LOL

    • Hilda: During the promotional period all Pick 3 players need to hold on to their coupons to cross reference with the winning numbers. According to the official rules, all prizes must be claimed by 4:30 PM within 60 days after the bonus coupon drawing date, printed beneath the word “draw” on the front of the bonus coupon.

It would be a shame to see a player miss out on their cash. However, if this does happen, (and it does from time to time) the money will go back into our unclaimed prize fund and make its way back to our players with another game promotion.

  129. jeevan L. Shrestha

is there any way that we can subscribe more than two mega million tickets in one subscription slip for one whole year? There are only for two tickets we can down load now. What if somebody wants to play more than two tickets? Say three tickets. What we do? Filling out two different slips for one extra tickets. The standard number of ticktes for the subscription are used to be five tickets. And the same way it was designed five tickets slip for all those lottery outlets.

    thank you.

    • jeevan: At this time, our subscription application only allows players to subscribe to two draws. If you would like to subscribe to more draws, unfortunately, you will have to submit another application.

  130. I love playing the lottery. I here all these comments about not winning. I found out you have to play to win. I hit the Bonus Match 5 in November of 2006 for $50,000 (although I’m still waiting to hit the Powerball & Mega Millions). Thank you for bringing the PowerBall to Maryland, now I don ‘t have to drive all the way to Delaware to get them. As for the scratch-offs, I think there are too many and the $20 tickets are rediculous when you can win more with a $1 play on the regular games (Mega Millions & PowerBall).

    • Uncle G,

You stated that you hit the match 5 in 2006, were your numbers computer picked or did you pick them yourself? Also, was your ticket purchased in one of the surrounding counties?

I find that computer picked numbers in the Dundalk and Glen Burnie area usually produce winners…I need a car to travel there though….

  131. I live in Parkville and was happy to win $100. on a bonus ticket about a week an a half ago. Thank you Md Lottery : )

I understand you’re trying to find a broadcast station to show the daily drawings. You all need to try a little harder, I addressed this problem to you about 3 months ago, and the drawing is still not accesible except on baltimore channel 11 and the internet, and also the phone no. which stays busy most of the time and some time not updated. Also, this number is long distance to a lot people which costs every time you call. A lot of people do not have computers.

  133. Tell me why the drawing is not live anymore…It use to be on WJZ…now its not live anymore..so this makes me think that the maryland lottery is finding out wich numbers are played mostly in the pick 3 and pick 4 and then make sure a least played number is drawn to pay out as little as possible..and please make stash stop with the yelling whoop whoop whoop crazy 8 before he starts with whoop whoop whoop sneaky 9 ..whoop whoop whoop smeely 9…whoop whoop whoop filthy 5..he is really anoying

    • Mookie: Our broadcast partner who conducts the drawings is WBAL-TV channel 11. Winning numbers and 2nd Chance opportunities have always been – and will continue to be – purely the luck of the draw and a matter of random chance and have no bearing on the payout. Every Maryland Lottery drawing is conducted in strict adherence to detailed procedures in order to guarantee the integrity of the results. These procedures call for numerous security checks and much testing of equipment and Lottery balls both before and after every single drawing. Security cameras document all that happens in the studio – 24 hours a day. To further guarantee the integrity of our drawings independent auditing firms perform unannounced visits, as do officials from the Lottery’s Security Division.

  134. I truly believe that there is something wrong with the system because I live in PG in the Temple Hills area and I know for a fact that lots of people play the lottery the line are long in most retailer, so why does the geographic show that Baltimore plays more when in fact B more is known to be low income resident and when the B more winner are choosen that live out side of the city line. Think about that

  135. Do you have subscriptions for the powerball in Maryland? You have subscriptions for Mega Million, I would like to subscribe to Powerball as I do to Mega Million. In Fact, I would like to subscribe to PICK 4, Midday and Night, as I can not get out to play my numbers all the time
and has missed , some of my pick 4’s because I can not get out to play them all the time.

    • Brenda: Thanks for the note. At this time we only offer subscriptions to Mega Millions and Multi-Match. We are working on bring subscriptions to additional games. Stay tuned to Sn@pshots because as soon as we know, we’ll let you know. Take care and good luck.

  136. So do we have to play our numbers at a deli to have a chance at this promotion.

  137. Why is it that 90% of the winners are from Baltimore/Prince Georges counties. Montgomery County people play alot too u know!! We need to win sometime too!!

    • Debbie: We get this questions a lot from all over the state. The truth is the geographic locations of our winners are random. There is no way to predict where the winners will be. However, research tells us that more winners come from areas of the State in which more people are playing. Therefore, areas in Maryland with higher populations will more likely produce more winners than lower populated areas. Thanks again for your inquiry. We appreciate hearing from our players.

As for recent wins, a Silver Spring man just won $1,000,000 with Lucky Times 20, Ronald Chazin of Poolesville just won $10,000 with Powerball and we just gave away $2,000 at our Racetrax Party at Fingers & Claws in Gaithersburg.

  138. I was informed by a retailer that they don’t get paid for having the lottery machine in their store, therefore they do not have to exercise fair trading services to lottery players if there are other customers to be waited on. My response to them was “my dollar has the same value of non lottery customers and if you can’t practice fair trading then many you take the machine out.”

  139. Dennis Edwards

I live in Charles County. I play the lottery everyday but cannot watch the numbers come out. I think that is pretty sad. Its the Maryland Lottery and I live in Maryland.

    • Dennis: The Lottery has attempted to address this issue through agreements with other television stations around the state to broadcast our drawings. Unfortunately, these arrangements proved unsatisfactory due to an inability of potential partners to guarantee the time needed to air all of our drawings. We continue to explore additional avenues that meet our broadcast requirements and that can fit within our budget.

Please remember that, along with the winning numbers line (410-230-8830), winning numbers always can be found on the Lottery’s website at mdlottery.com, in many local newspapers and by visiting any of the more than 4,000 Maryland Lottery retail locations across the State.

Thanks for taking the time to write in. We appreciate hearing from all of our players.

  140. I like the lottery and wish they would do a promotion like do at XMAS time with the cash prizes of $5, $10,$25 and $50 it makes a person feelgood..

  141. look forward to winning

  142. Well here we go again all winners are in the lower part of Maryland I’m fed up with this is a fixed deal I’m done with your system no more playing for me

    • Ed: We are sorry you feel that way. Research tells us that more winners come from areas of the State in which more people are playing. Therefore, areas in Maryland with higher populations will more likely produce more winners than lower populated areas. The geographic locations of our winners are indeed random and there is no way to predict where the winners will be.

  143. dear lottery.

I play the lottery every day mdiday and evening .
And i have not seen a promotion ticket yet. the retailer that i go to. I go there every day and play. And know one have receive a promotion coupon yet from this one store. I play 32.00 a day. and is the promotion on the lottery ticket that you purchase. at the top of your ticket 8 numbers going across. dont tell me that it is
random. because my father had a random ticket last time the promotion was going on. and his
coupon ticket did not come out from that retailer. But sdaid that he did have a coupon. i told him to go back ask for the manager. so the retailer can stop the coupon from coming up some how. or come out later. and i think that is what is going on at the retailer that i go to. because i have not see any one in the store said that they got a coupon ticket. and i asked the retailer said that he do not speak english . so i need to know how is this ticket coming out. like i said on your lottery ticket or it come out on a coupon by it self. please let me know

    • Lady:
Please keep in mind that the promotion is only valid for Pick 3 plays of $1.00 or more. Bonus coupons are being distributed randomly throughout our entire network of over 4,000 retailers. To alleviate any potential issues, if you are to receive a bonus coupon it will say so on your original Pick 3 ticket and your purchase will be accompanied by musical fanfare so please look out for those things.

Lastly, if you want to us to look into the situation at this particular retailer, please respond to this thread with the retailer name and address and we’ll be happy to do so.

Thank you for your comment. We appreciate hearing from our players.

  144. Donald Wise

The MD Lottery should go back to one drawing, in the evening untill the recession is over or just go back to one drawing peroid

  145. do we throw away the bonus coupons after the drawing

  146. Margaret Wett

In the final grand prize drawing, will the tickets that didn’t win in the weekly drawings be used?
Should we continue to hold onto out tickets?

  147. Charlene Scott

My question is do lottery retailers know that when your have a promotion like this that the a 50/50 ticket should be printed on one ticket instead of two seperate tickets?

    • Charlene: The lottery has informed the retailers that the promotion has been designed so that the bonus coupons will only be generated when a player purchases one ticket of at least one dollar. We would also advise that each player remind their retailer and request to have their tickets printed on one play slip to alleviate any potential issues.

  148. veronica.hall

Hello when will the lottery show the winning coupons Numbers.

  149. I think lottery should make Keno doublers and triplers permanent. I love playing Keno when they are in play!

  150. Can post office boxes be used as an address, as long as you are a resident of Maryland? I use mine as this is my mailing address, I don’t get mail at my residence, was just wondering if my entries for Livin Lucky are being rejected because I am using my p.o. box as my address.

  151. ladydi3607

I played ten dollars worth of pick 3 lottery and did not get a bonus coupon. How are the coupon generated? Good Luck everyone!!!!!

    • ladydi: It is important to note that the coupons will not be triggered to come out unless the purchases are $1 wagers for each Pick 3 number. The coupons are generated on an nth basis, so every x number of Pick 3 tickets that are purchased of one dollar or more will generate a coupon. This figure is calculated across all retailers in the state of Maryland, so no one can truly predict exactly when or where they will come.

  152. I lovr the maryland lottery havnt won big yet but you gotta play to win and Im patiently waiting to win!!!!!!!!!

  153. I play lottery every day. pick 3, keno, mega mill, multi match, powerball and scratch offs. Never ever had a winner over $ 500.00. I wish Lottery headquarters could spread the luck further north into Harford County…
Good Luck All-you gotta play to win !
That is what the advertisement tells me-Coming from a lottery player of a minimum of $ 24 day +/+ depends on my luck…Remember winning is random and nobody has control of that except the computer program. I luv luv the lottery !

    • Sgt. Slaughter

I would like to see some winners in Harford County also. Baltimore City gets too many every time there is a promotion.

    • They ought to spend the wealth in Frederick County too, we never had any winners in this area big from scratch offs to jackpots. That is why everyone goes to charlestown slots where the odds are better than the lottery.

      • Peg: Hope all is well. We get this inquiry a lot from players. But the truth is, the geographic locations of our winners are random. There is no way to predict where the winners will be. However, research tells us that more winners come from areas of the State in which more people are playing. Therefore, areas in Maryland with higher populations will more likely produce more winners than lower populated areas. Thanks again for your inquiry. We appreciate hearing from our players.

Also, just this week a Frederick woman just won $100,000 playing Lucky Cards.

  154. I just want to say I play the lottery all the time and I do think that all the games are fair you just have to pick the right numbers to win. I win occasionally but the more you play the more chance you have. I just won $27,ooo dollars in the pick 4 in Feb this year. Thank you Maryland State Lottery.

  155. neisser ho

WOW this is the first time i’ve heard of the weekly drawing! (not a regular lottery player) Thank you to my friend Mike H. from work who told me about it! :-)

  156. I like the new promotion; I’d like it even better if I would win something!
It seems that all “big winners” come from Baltimore. I wish it would spread the wealth to other towns in MD!

    • Janet: The geographic locations of our winners are random. There is no way to predict where the winners will be. However, research tells us that more winners come from areas of the State in which more people are playing. Therefore, areas in Maryland with higher populations will more likely produce more winners than lower populated areas. Thanks again for your inquiry. We appreciate hearing from our players.

  157. JUST BE HAPPY WHEN YOU LOSE SAME TIME WE ARE HELPING MARYLAND

  158. steve giusti

do we hold all of our tickets for the final grand prize or do we mail them some where

  159. Barry Dingle

I hope we have some winners in Cecil County this time. I would sure like to win.

  160. Broke in Baltimore

Did the lottery put all the losing scratch-off tickets or low money winning scratch-off tickets in Baltimore City? Most of the big money prizes are won in PG County and Montgomery County.

    • Broke in Baltimore: I think its just a matter of perception. We have received many comments asking, “Why are all the winners coming from Baltimore?” The reality is that we have no control over where the winners come from. The geographic locations of our winners are random and there is no way to predict where the winners will be. However, research tells us that more winners come from areas of the State in which more people are playing. Therefore, areas in Maryland with higher populations like Baltimore, Montgomery County and Prince George’s County will more likely produce more winners than lower populated areas. Thanks again for your inquiry. We appreciate hearing from our players.

  161. I really do not honestly believe that there are 66,000 winners per day. What are they winning?
Ever since the lottery drawings switched from Channel 13 to Channel 11 lots of people have been having a hard time winning.Channel 11 is a curse.
I am really sick and tired of Stash hollering ,”Whoop,Whoop,Whoop crazy eight.”Almost every time he appears an eight is guaranteed to be drawn which makes me believe the lottery is rigged!!!Your slogan should be “Play to lose” since Baltimore City residents aren’t winning anything.

    • Lionqueen:
When you take into consideration the variety of games we offer, as well as all potential winning denominations (from a $1 scratch-off all the way up to jackpot wins) the number of winners per day is really quite staggering.

The drawing procedures from channel 13 to channel 11 have remained the same. In addition, the odds are identical for every drawing and each drawing is completely random. Every Maryland Lottery drawing is conducted in strict adherence to detailed procedures in order to guarantee the integrity of the results.

      • Jimi H. Nock

There is a vast difference in the way that Channel 13 and Channel 11 show the winning numbers. Channel 13 would miniaturize the screen to show the winning number, whereas Channel 11 does not show the drawing at all. Contrary to popular belief, there is a world of difference since Channel 11 shows the drawings. Even on Sundays, there is this everlasting poker game showing and the winning number is flashed across the bottom screen. Don’t give us that BS that the procedure is the same. Give me a break!

      • Jimi:
You are correct that there are production differences between how Channel 13 did the drawings and how Channel 11 is currently depicting them.

However, the drawing procedures that the Maryland Lottery follows have not changed. We must follow strict rules to guarantee the integrity of the results and they are not determined by where we broadcast the drawings. In addition, these procedures call for numerous security checks and continuous testing of equipment and Lottery balls both before and after every single drawing. Security cameras document all that happens in the studio – 24 hours a day. To further guarantee the integrity of our drawings independent auditing firms perform unannounced visits, as do officials from the Lottery’s Security Division.

Hope this helps clarify the difference between the two. Thanks for your note.

  162. Virginia Gibson

I love this game. Need to have more special games.Play to win everyone.

  163. I love the promo already !! I won $100 with that bonus coupon !!! On the first day !!! You go Md Lottery !!

  164. I sure could use a an extra $10,000 . I hope some of bonus numbers cane pop up down on the eastren shore. As much as i play midday and evening pick 3 and 4 hopefully we can get a winner or two in Willards . Got to keep the faith.

  165. pick 3 triple play promotion , I love that game

  166. I hope to win big on this promotion. I got 2 bonus coupons today. Good luck to everyone.

  167. is your second chance coupon only valid for the week it was purchased or do you hold it through out each week

  168. Claricer scott

I always send in my bonus ticket info. But never see how Check who the winner is. I think the winners and numbers should be posted at every lottery machine location

    • Claricer: For this particular promotion, you don’t need to send your tickets anywhere. If the coupon’s last two digits match the last two digits of that evening’s Pick 3, you will win $100. Continue to hold on to your tickets for that week’s Weekly Prize Drawing. We will draw an entire 8-digit coupon number for a chance to win up to $250,000. You can check back here to compare your 8-digit numbers against what was drawn to see if you won.

  169. Vickie Brandt

Good Luck everyone! Hope I can hit something big one time.

  170. A great way for everyone 2 win . Hold on to your tickets and may the best player win.
    Good Luck 2 all

  171. I like to think of the lottery as me making a deposit , with the hopes of a big withdrawal. Yes we all know it ” Luck” We have to play to win.

  172. I have to admit , I like this pick 3 triple play . Could it be that on the very first night “I WON” My bonus coupon match the last two digit of the pick 3 number “06” and I won $100.00. I would like for this promotion to stay around a little longer. Yeah!!!!!!!

  173. I am not falling prey to this particular lottery promotion. During the internet promotion last year, I entered 268 tickets and I did not win on one entry.

  174. The Lottery is fixed all the money that Maryland puts into the Lottery there should be more Baltimore winners. Its always some out of town old retiree that really don’t need the money, what about the hard working people that live in Baltimore that play every day and don’t winn a thing!!!

    • I DOUBT IT…ALL THE WINNERS ARE FROM BALTIMORE AND THE SURROUNDING AREA…HAVE YOU LOOKED AT THE LIST OF WINNERS? YOU SHOULD SEE WHERE I LIVE….IT’S TRUELY UNBELIEVABLE…BIGGEST WINNER AT MY STORE WAS $1K….

      • Truth of it is, is that all of us want to win so to us no one in our area hits. But it is purely luck. Trust me, I buy more scratch offs than any one I know or have ever met and the biggest one I have ever hit was $500. Actually I just hit $500 last week on the $20 cash blast or something…that was nice. I think that one day I will hit something bigger than that, but you gotta play to win. I have been playing the same pick four for 6 years midday and eve. I have hit it boxed only, like 3 times. It has never came straight. Jeez, I wish I could have all that back, just did the math. If it does I will win a nice chunk. I love the lottery, it’s one of my addictions. It’s just fun! And it really rocks when you win.

  175. it’s hard enough to win maryland lottery count me out for any games other than maryland games!

  176. Pingback: Top Posts — WordPress.com

  177. good luck every one. let’s play and win.

  178. All big money pots end up somewhere other than Maryland. I stopped playing all games that take money away from Maryland as well as the pick 3 and pick 4. You could hit at one time and now nothing for more than 4 years.

  179. kevin sanders

You have to play to WIN…

  180. Harvey Woolf

I can’t tell you how many chances I’ve had with the bonus coupon on your past contests but always a bridesmaid so far. Here’s hoping this time I’ll win maybe $100 if I get a bonus coupon.

  181. good luck all let’s get some matches

  182. I just want to win just one time when I play the number dont come I keep trying. Would love to win just one time small or big I will be grateful
I try to support the lottery but I need the lottery to support me a little so I can give back

  183. I will be palying to win.

  184. Good luck everyone! Pleaese let me win one time.

  185. sanmi ogunlowo

This is another good opportunity for those of us who did not benefit from the last promotion to grab something. Wish every player good luck. Until then, seeing you Md Lottery.
